The Coffee House

This was an unexpectedly nice surprise.

We entered the place mostly to kill time while we were waiting for a tour to start and it was cold & rainy outside.

The pastries on display didn't look particularly appealing nor the atmosphere particularly inviting but at that moment we didn't have many other options.

The service was fast, which is always nice in these situations.

The hot chocolate was very sweet, which is something I personally like but may not be for everyone.

I had a decaf coffee that is not something I take for granted to find. It tasted nice but the lid on the mug was not well sealed and so I spilled it over my shoes when I took the first sip. Luckily no damage was done, but still!

There was a choice of little less than 10 flavors of ice cream. I was delighted to discover that one was Banana. The waffle cone was very good and the scoop I got quite big. The gelato tasted quite good even if not what an artisanal banana gelato would taste.
Foam Coffeehouse

I'm really glad to have Foam as a local diner in our Terenure village as their food is extremely tasty.

I don't go often in Foam as it's super popular during lunch time. I managed to go there recently a couple of times a little bit earlier and that allowed me to find a seat. It also allowed me to be reminded of how good their food is.

2 plates particularly stand out for me: their generous pancackes (which I recommend to order with extra syrup if like me you like things that are sweet) and their Full Irish breakfast, which to me is hands down the best I had in Ireland.

Their bacon may not seem much but it turns out to be just the right amount. It's cooked to perfection and is an explosion of flavor.

Their sausages are among the best if not the best I have ever had in Ireland.

This time they prepared mushrooms and tomato with a twist that surprised me and I found very interesting.

Their cookie was also very good.

Thinking about the place: it is very lively, full of families with small kids.

1 thing that I don't particularly like is that the door gets opened (and often remains opened) very often. So if it's cold outside it's hardly pleasant inside. But that's also a ring that is common to many other diners in the area.

A shame that the beauty of the presentation doesn't match the taste of the food.

The place is very nice and offers a series of expensive products, like crisps & Panettone. The problem is that they feel too expensive for what one could probably find outside.

Fresh food is not up to the task.

I ordered a pasta with gorgonzola and walnuts + parmesan. It should have been an explosion of taste and instead it tasted like a watered down boiled pasta in milk.

Mash was good but had probably stayed there in the pan a bit too much.

Grilled vegetables were ok but lacked condiments (and I didn't know where to find olive oil & salt).

I think it used to be better.

A good aspect is that the staff assured us that we could have stayed at our table for as long as we wanted.
We like Vermillion a lot. We have been going there for years and the quality has been consistently high.

The environment is nice and the waiters always very kind.

We have found that the temperature of the room tends to be a little on the cold side, mostly in contrast with the softness of the carpet and the colors chosen for the walls, but this is just a matter of personal taste.

Food is consistently very good. Prices are noticeably higher than other Indian takeaways in the surroundings but the cost seems more than justified by the tastiness of the food and the experience of dining-in.

I usually enjoy large portions. I like that in the case of Vermillion they are manageable: they are large enough to satisfy me but not too large that I would be able to eat only 1 thing. Most recipes are in fact very rich with cream and sauces.

Tonight we tried to share a starter of prawns (really good) and 1 main of lamb to be able to taste 4 different vegetarian sides. We loved the variety, flavour & texture of each course.
Ristorante Nabucco

Great food. I wish I were more ready or enjoy the experience.

I went to Nabucco after a very long day of traveling, eating close to nothing and working very hard.

I initially picked this place captured by the pictures of Veal Milanese. Funny enough in the end I chose not to order it, this time.

When I got in I had an option to sit in one of the 2-3 tables near the entrance or go downstairs.

I was concerned about being too close to the main door, so I asked to go downstairs.

It was beautiful.

Once there I realized I was definitely not dressed for the place and that probably it was not the right food for me that night: I was starving and would have hardly been able to enjoy delicacies.

I ordered a sort of local meatballs which I found very good. A shame they arrived not as warm as they should have been or I suspect they would have been memorable.

I appreciated a lot that when I mentioned it to the waiter at the moment of paying he immediately apologized and offered me a drink to compensate.

The risotto with Veal Bone Stew (kinda) was super tasty and cooked very well.

As someone who loves bread, I deeply appreciated the tray with 3 different types of fresh bread that I got served. They were all very tasty!

Definitely a place to come back to once ready to enjoy it properly.
