Commons is one of the first cafes in Colombo. The furniture seems a bit dated but atmosphere is certainly chilled and friendly. The servers were very friendly and efficient.

At The Commons, breakfast is a star-spangled affair! We indulged in their American breakfast, and boy, was it a stars and stripes sensation! From toasties to sizzling bacon, every bite was a taste of the good ol’ U.S. of Yay! And to wash it all down, we had a chocolate milkshakes and an Oreo milkshake that were milk-liciously good – they really shook up our morning routine! If you’re looking for a breakfast that’s ‘common’-ly delicious, this is the spot to be. 🇺🇸🥞🥓

Calm and Beverly ambiance. Mongolia rice perfectly contains the flavors. Perfect Blueberry cheesecake ❤️ also the biscuits pudding.
The Commons has been in Colombo 07, right opposite the Ladies College, for almost 25 years. It has a bit of a darker interior but a homely sort of feeling to it. Even though situated right in the middle of bustling city of busy Colombo, it's quite calm and quiet inside. Parking is available at the front of the cafe. Staff is welcoming and the service is good. The Commons offers you a choice from burgers and sandwiches to waffles, crepes, rice dishes, soups and salads. There's also a good dessert/ sweet items selection. The beverage section offers milk shakes, fresh fruit juices, mojitos, frappes and frappucinos, teas and a choice of coffee. We had a chicken waffle, chicken wrap and a cheesy vege melt along with banana waffles, potato wedges and drinks. It was all delicious.
Welcoming, warm and home like vibe. Place is spacious. Staff is super friendly and the service is quick. Food is surprisingly good coz many “cafes” lack taste in their dishes. Value for money is ok considering the overheads and the potion sizes. Overall it’s a must visit place for all the foodies and a really good place for a peaceful and cozy hangout with friends, family or a special someone.
We had dinner at commons coffee house. The menu has a wide variety of items including rice, kottu, pasta, etc. absolutely love their Mongolian chicks rice. The frappe was a bad decision. The texture and taste of the cheesecake was not right though!! Didn’t like it. The strawberry milkshake was average.
