These churches are hidden gems on the Istiklal street. It was so surprising to me to find them just in 2 steps from crowded walking street.
The architecture is beautiful, and the atmosphere is magical.
It's a nice place to go and take pictures if you are going to Istiklal Street

An incredibly beautiful and magnificient church at the heart of Taksim/Istiklal Caddesi. It is filled with visitors at all times. The tall ceiling and the interior design is mesmerizing. You can light a candle and make a wish while you are there. You enter and visit for free. No need to buy tickets.

It’s a beautiful Catholic church in Gothic style right in the middle of İstiklal street.
It one of three Levantine parishes in Beyoğlu. Today it is run by Italian priests.

Definitely a must visit if you’re in the area.

Note:
Saturday Mass in English begins at 19:00; Sunday Mass in Italian is at 11:30, in Polish at 11:30 in the crypt, in English at 10:00 and at 19:00 in Turkish; and Tuesday Mass in Turkish begins at 11:00.
Weekday Masses are in English at 8:00 and in Turkish at 19:00.

The church of San Antonio is strongly linked to the Levantine community in Istanbul; historically, Turkish citizens of Italian origin have always had a strong presence of faithful and parishes in the Beyoğlu district, but it was not until 1912 (with the constructive freedoms acquired after the Tanzimat reform) that they were able to create a large temple of reference for their faithful, the year in which this beautiful building, designed by the genius of the architect Giulio Mongeri, was inaugurated. It is a really beautiful church if you are around here you should go and see it, it is very beautiful.

As I was walking in the Istiklal street I saw this beautiful church and couldn’t resist to get inside.

This was not at in the plan, but after visiting this place I definitely recommend going inside. If you are visiting Istiklal street make sure you stop by even for a short span it won’t disappoint you.

It’s beautiful.

St. Antonio Church stands out as one of the rare Catholic Churches nestled amidst the bustling Istiklal street in Istanbul. Amidst the crowds, shops, and street noises, this iconic historical church exudes its timeless presence. During our visit, we were captivated by its beauty and serenity. While visitors were restricted from entering near the altar, it remained open for those seeking a moment of prayer near the altar and tabernacle.
