Went for Micropia. Two levels, some interactive stuff, very interesting. Coolest we the leaf cutter ants installation and the Petrie dishes full of germs growing. Fun thing to do as part of the Amsterdam experience.
As a microbiologist myself, this museum does an incredible job of teaching foundational principles of microbiology and evolution to a wide audience. The museum does an incredible job of giving visitors the ability to see real, live microorganisms through microscopes, and goes into some of their unique capabilities like bioluminescence! This museum is a unique must-see for anyone!
This museum is so well done! I particularly enjoyed the ability to ‘scan’ our bodies to see the number of our own microbes - I have 168 trillion apparently! Not sure how scientific this is but it was fun nonetheless. The museum isn’t huge so will probably take around 90 minutes. We bought tickets on the door and that worked fine.

Much better than expected! Very interesting and interactive. You can see alive organisms in the microscope and the ant farm is impressive as well! Also the presentation at 4PM was very interesting!
Biology teacher here, and this is exactly the sort of place I'd love to bring a class to. The layout works well. The interactive microscopes were probably a highlight for me, and the kids there seemed to be enjoying them, too.
I didn’t think my four-year-old would enjoy this but boy-oh-boy was I wrong! He loved it and the wonderful woman at the counter (we didn’t get her name) was absolutely helpful. They made the museum so interactive that even the youngest but most curious minds are guaranteed to have a blast. A must-visit for sure!
