Really good authentic food. The workers are very attentive. Would definitely return and hope they change up the menu so we could try new things. The food is terrific.
Really enjoyed the fresh food, good drinks and cool but attentive staff within this calm atmosphere. Ordered the Lak-Sa noodles and vegetable rice and immediately dug in. A memorable experience as we spoke a bit with the owner and friendly waitstaff. We will definitely be back. The food is too good to only go once.
VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE.
Our party was very eager and excited to try this restaurant. However, we were not permitted to enter by the host and later told that TAKEOUT IS NOT AN OPTION. We were advised that we could go purchase a container for takeaway, which is inexcusable for a restaurant at this price point and for this type of cuisine. (Singapore is well-known for its street food vis-a-vis intangible cultural heritage per UNESCO.)
In any event, the roast duck in the display case appeared VERY DRY (not glistening with duck fat as it should); NOT PROPERLY SEASONED as it was very light in color (see photo); and WITHOUT THE TELLTALE CRISPY SKIN.
Anyone who has ever purchased roast duck before will be SHOCKED by the $280 PESO COST PER 100 GRAMS (almost US$20 for a small single portion). (For comparison's sake, a full roast duck at many restaurants in San Francisco costs between US$25-30.)
I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to locals or tourists alike due to cost alone, which is very unfortunate. In summary, ANOTHER CASE OF STYLE OVER SUBSTANCE. ¡Qué vergüenza!
Pro tip: Save yourself the heartache and sticker shock and purchase chamorro around the corner.

3.5 stars. Makan is a trendy, somewhat haughty restaurant with food that exceeds the personality of the restaurant. Try the duck, perfectly roasted and delicious. Wines overpriced and unfortunately Makan offers no Mexican wines. Decent offering of cocktails. Service was OK, perhaps a little stuffy.
