This is a fabulous cafe and well worth a visit. It's based on a movie theatre lobby with lots of film posters and memorabilia. Equally as important, the service, coffee and food is also brilliant. Easily the best coffee I've had in Japan. I had the "Dune" cheese, honey and special spices toast which was just great. It's inspired by the film Dune. But the owner reassured me that eating it wouldn't make my eyes turn blue!

This place has a cool, ecclectic atmosphere. Each menu item is named after a movie or actress. Once you order, the owner gives you info on how the food was inspired and the pamplet from the movie that you can purchase at Japanese theaters.

My friend and I came here for brunch everyday in Kyoto. The first time we came in, we were greeted by the warm and friendly owner, Kenji. His admiration and love for films is touching. I was in awe of his collection of posters and pamphlets. I loved the calm atmosphere, looking through film pamphlets and books while Talking Heads played in the background. I have added so many films to my watchlist by looking through the pamphlets and Kenji’s recommendations. The breakfast and toasted sandwich set was so filling and worth it. He bakes his bread everyday so it’s nice and fresh. I’d recommend getting his baked doughnuts too. So yummy! It kept us going for a long day of exploring Kyoto and other areas. It’s only a short walk from Nijo station too. I would love to come back and recommend coming here to visit this unique cafe. Ohki-ni, Kenji!

Me and my partner love films. We were in luck to be staying near this cafe and we were so impressed about the archive Kenji has collected over the past decades. He knows his films and also made us some great sandwiches and coffee!

Loved the place! We tried different coffees and “dune” on the menu, they were all super tasty!
The owner was so nice and taught us couple of japanese words in his dialect. His favourite movie choices were also fascinating. You can definitely understand that he is so passionate about what he is doing, i would def recommend this place.
Also the atmosphere of the cafe was amazing for people who are into movies. The music in the background was 70s-80s rock, which we loved:)

It is the most charming cafe I have ever been to. It is movie themed and the food is very delicious and not pricey.
The owner is a very friendly man who seemed to enjoy his business.
