Situata nell'omonima Piazza, è uno dei tanti esempi di Barocco fiorentino; la costruzione inizio nel 1300 circa a cura dell'esistente Convento degli Umiliati ed al suo interno nei secoli successivi si alternarono vari Artisti di pregio che produssero Opere in parte ancora presenti ed in parte "emigrate" in Musei (Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, Giotto); ha una Navata unica, e ci sono due Cappelle ai lati dell'Altare principale e d altre sui lati della Navata (sei per parte) tutte molto belle, intitolate a Santi (Annunciazione, Santissimo Crocifisso, Capestrano, ecc.) o Famiglie Nobiliari (importante ricordare la cappella Vespucci, alla quale apparteneva il famoso Amerigo, che contribuì molto alla realizzazione di svariate Opere in particolare del Ghirlandaio); le Opere e le Cappelle sono tutte molto belle così come sono particolari il Pulpito ben decorato con Sculture, l'Organo Positivo e quello Monumentale, il Soffitto e l'Altare principale; in definitiva si tratta di una Chiesa non grandissima ma che mi ha molto colpito per la ricchezza interna e per la sua bellezza. Da non trascurare il Chiostro con il Loggiato completamente Affrescato nel 1600.
La chiesa ospita le spoglie di Sandro Botticelli e Carolina Bonaparte, inoltre è ricca di affreschi.
Chiesa di medie dimensioni collocata nel cuore di Firenze. Esterno anonimo, interno ricco di opere d'arte tra cui un crocifisso di Giotto.
Igreja ricamente decorada de afrescos e pinturas, nela se encontram os túmulos de Sandro Bociceli e Carolina Bonaparte (irmã mais nova de Napoleão). O teto da igreja tem uma pintura em perspectiva que dá uma impressão falsa de profundidade.
Bella chiesa con vari affreschi di Botticelli e Ghirlandaio ed un magnifico crocifisso ligneo di Giotto. Sul lato destro della navata c'è la tomba di Amerigo Vespucci, a destra dell'altare la tomba di Botticelli.
Da non perdere il cenacolo del Ghirlandaio, a fianco della chiesa.

Entry at the moment discounted to 5 euro because the great cloisters are closed. No student discount. What they don't tell you is that the Avelli cemetery is also closed. The open part is definitely worth a visit with many masterpieces.
Überraschenderweise konnte man mit dem normalen Ticket sehr viel sehen! Kirche, Kreuzgänge und Museum sind beeindruckend und wir haben dort fast 2 Stunden verbracht. Besonders sehenswert ist das Trinitätsfresko (wird aktuell restauriert, ist aber zugänglich für 1,50 Euro) und die spanische Kapelle.
Weiter Platz, schöne Kirche. Eintritt kostenfrei, aber gesteuert.

The inside was amazing. There is no entry fee. If you want to visit other parts, then you should buy tickets. The cathedral is open from 10.15 to 15.45, so be aware of the closing time. We waited for 10 minutes to enter the cathedral cause there are control points for checking whether you’re carriying a sharp object.

My favorite church to visit in Florence! Beautiful outside and amazing inside because of those laid to rest there. And if you’re around in November and/or December, there’s a great Christmas Market in the square in front of the church. You won’t regret visiting!

Amazing basilica and monastery behind it. You see frescoes buy most famous italian masters, and a lot of wood and marm works. Amazing!
Beautiful classic old cathedral, unexpectedly appointed, a ton of history and old crypts and grave. Beautiful courtyard. Tickets were part of the Firenze pass, but not busy and available at the entrance.

Die Kirche an sich, nun ja, eine Kirche. Es gibt viele wie diese. Den religiösen "Wert" derselben vermag ich nicht zu ermessen. Der Kreuzgang jedoch, insbesondere der Große, wird jenen ein Pflichtbesuch sein, die Albert Camus' Frühwerk aufmerksam gelesen haben. Findet Santa Maria Novella doch Erwähnung in jenem wunderbaren Essay "Die Wüste". Es ist einer dieser Orte, die dem hellsichtigen Geist verkünden, dass nichts aufersteht. Hier kann man einen jener großen Tempel besuchen, aus dem die Götter geflohen sind, und in dem all unsere Idole tönerne Füße haben.

Einmaliger Ort, wunderbare Kunstschätze, unbedingt ansehen! Wir haben etwa eine Viertelstunde gewartet beim Eingang, dann konnte man so lange bleiben wie man wollte. Zeit sollte man jedenfalls mitbringen!
Sehr schöne Kirche, welche von außen zwar nicht den Anschein nach Größe erweckt, innen jedoch sehr weitläufig ist. Es gibt ein schönes Museum mit vielem Wissenswertem. Bei einem Besuch von Florenz auf jeden fall wert besichtigt zu werden.
Sehr sehr großer Dom der von außen nicht so groß erscheint. Es gibt viele sehr schöne innen Gärten. Und der komplex ist wie gesagt sehr groß.

Santa Maria Novella ist ein unglaublich, reichverziertes Gebäude aus der Zeit. Kann man nicht einfach so beschreiben, sondern muss man wie oben schon gesagt vor Ort bestaunen.
