Wendy and Kev were friendly and helpful. The Chucky hard standing was spacious. So why 3 stars? Well perhaps we were unlucky (most reviews are positive) but the toilets & showers were NOT clean. The shower mat in the Games room shower had black and pink mould on it! I had to remove it before I got in. The shower screen in the main shower rooms was no longer transparent. The toilet in the games room needed a toilet brush. All clearly had not been cleaned in a while. To make this worse there were at least two A4 notices in each toilet and shower room stating in no uncertain terms that camping clients must clean the facilities after use. If I had made a clean shower/toilet dirty, I might think that this was fair, but I am not cleaning several weeks of dirt I had nothing to do with! I was ready to tell Wendy and Kev all this in person, until I read the final notice, which fairly stated not to shower dogs in the showers except the dogs were referred to as “your bloody dogs”. I had to read it twice as I couldn’t believe they would use this language for all guests to read. The notices suggest Wendy and Kev are fed up cleaning after their customers or that they just can’t be bothered with it. Sorry guys but every campsite I go to has times when they close their showers for cleaning: it is part of the service. You may have messy clients but don’t make your respectful ones suffer!

What a great little camp site very clean and friendly staff nice and pleasant a quiet lovely site canal works and a lovely pub a small walk up the road had a cracking meal in there

What a find for camping, I car camp and they were super welcoming, really clean facilities, Google maps takes you right to the entrance. I will be back.

We have just had a 3 night stay in our motorhome, at this lovely site. It’s our second visit. Sadly when we arrived, the site was flooded (the river had risen sharply in the 30 minutes prior to our arrival) The owners were so apologetic but gave us the option of parking on a large gravel section, alongside their own home. There was water and EHU, so we agreed to stay. They worked hard moving vehicles and a caravan, in order to make room for us. We really appreciated them going the extra mile for us and had a wonderful stay! When we came to pay, they only wanted to charge us enough to cover the electric!! We insisted they took a bit extra, as we thought they deserved it.
The site is situated just outside the village of Great Hayward, where there are a few shops and a pub. There is also a large farm shop and canal side cafe. Lots of walks direct from the site.
We didn’t use the on-site showers or toilets, so can’t comment. There is a large play area for children but far enough from the main pitches, so not to disturb anyone.
