I really enjoyed the visit and it was well worth the walk up to it from the seafront. The views were amazing and compared to how busy it was on a bank holiday Monday along the beach it was a great escape.
The location has toilets, a little tea hut and ice cream van along with the standard English heritage shop.
There is also a little museum on site but we didn't get a chance to pop in but well worth a stroll around the ground just for the amazing views of Scarborough and the headland from the viewpoints.
Would definitely return.
Definitely worth the walk up the hill. You can see both bays at once from here. The audio tour is really good. Fascinating place. It’s very exposed & it’s always been windy when we’ve been so probably best to take a coat!
Nice castle and views. Mostly ruins but offers some great views. Paid parking is available at church parking ground. The parking ticket machine was difficult to operate with the card payment option not working. Eventually, it worked after trying for around 15 mins. There was free guide tour available at the site.
Very cool place for a visit, but get ready for a walk.

It is pretty much uphill to get to the entrance.

Once up there, it is so worth it, but really windy.
Nice place to visit , not a great deal of castle to see but we had a really lovely walk around the outer walls . You can take your dog and ours also enjoyed the walk. There is an information display which was very informative and the staff were really friendly. The view from the viewing platform was beautiful, overlooking over both beaches .
Had an incredible time at Scarborough castle, entry was 7 pounds each and there was no limit on how long you can stay, you can also get an audio guide but we chose to find out own way around. There's a small exhibition on the viking and Roman settlements in Scarborough and lots more information around the site and the gift shop has lots to offer and some very good wine too. We also had a lovely encounter with a pheasant
Interesting place to visit and spend some time educating and entertaining ourselves with an audio guide, walking and enjoining stunning views on both South and North Bays and Scarborough city. Dogs allowed on a lead, ours enjoyed it and we were pleased, too, as there are not that many accessible areas like this. We were also watching an egg hunt for kids organised by the castle staff. There is a little museum, too. Some refreshments. I would allow an hour+ per visit
A New Year's Day walk. Sunny, breezy and a little moist underfoot. Breathtaking views up and down the coast and a pod of dolphins playing in the sea. What more could you want? Oh, the castle is lovely too.
