What a wonderful place.
Very very interesting and well presented

Un lugar maravilloso, que contiene una destacada exposición de la historia costarricense, desde epocas precolombinas, conquista, independencia, conflictos y actualidad, el lugar esta en lo que fue el antiguo Cuartel Bellavista, lugar de la abolición del ejercito, las instalaciones estan en un buen cuidado, las exposiciones con información de piezas y extractos de historia, la entrada para nacionales esta en 2500 colones, gratis para estudiantes y profesores que lleven su debida acreditación, el recorrido puede tardar de 1 a 2 horas, amplio y hay varios parqueos al rededores para visitar el mismo.

Absolutely stunning collection of history and artifacts. It's an amazing part of Costa Rican heritage and history that is well preserved and presented that any history aficionado must see.

El recorrido es muy interesante, la información que han recogido es muy completa. Puedes recorrerlo todo entre 60 y 90 minutos. El personal es muy amable. Es algo caro considerando el tamaño.

Interesting museum focused on Costa Rica's history in the past few centuries. A great place to go if you want to learn about the adversities, resilience and subsequent growth the Costa Rican people faced since the Spanish conquests and more recently from the different wars waged in Central America. Their history is testament to the resolve of great people and the willingness to put the violence of the past to rest.

Super bien cuidado era el antiguo aeropuerto, chiquito pero acogedora con un mural donde se explica la historia de costa rica

Un lugar que merece ser visitado. Colecciones de arte permanentes así como exhibiciones temporales en el interior de un edificio histórico. El Salón Dorado es una obra de arte en sí mismo.

Y por si fuera poco, la entrada es gratuita.

Wonderful place covers the culture bot just the items, it's actually the banks museum and had an art exhibition and a numismatic exhibition on the top, so we'll worth it

Un très beau musée, riche en histoire e explication des différentes étapes qu'à vécu le Costa Rica, y compris les heures les plus sombres.
C'est un pays avant-gardiste concernant la prise en charge de la santé de son peuple et la condition féminine, un belle exemple à suivre.
De très beaux artefacts anciens, mis en valeur par les explications écrites.
Les premiers habitants étaient très doués de leurs mains, ils ont laissé un bel héritage d'artefacts, en particulier des bijoux d'une grande finesse et précision.
Un musée à visiter absolument, d'autant plus que sont entrée comporte une miryade de papillons.
Difficile de choisir les photos à poster.

8800 colones to enter- lots to see and has the descriptions in both English and Spanish, very cool to see all the tiny gold figures as well as the rotating art exhibit and the mint

El ingreso es gratis, el horario de ingreso es de martes a domingo. Antes de entrar te piden escanear un código y dejar tus pertenencias en un locker. El museo está muy bien cuidado, los pisos, y todo. A mi me gustó sobre todo el salón del 2do piso.

Siempre es maravilloso visitar el museo.
El salón dorado es imperdible, en sus muros se narra la historia de Costa Rica. Siempre encontrarás un nuevo detalle.
La entrada es gratuita.

Amazing collection of species and rocks/minerals.
-Located in San jose at the South west corrner of the Sabana park. You enter through security gate and walk to end of road and turn right. Security gaurds will give directions. Entrance fee when you get to the door is cheap, 2000 colones. There is a suggested path to follow (probilly so guests are moving in the same direction), just follow the foot prints on the ground.

-This place must have over a million specimens, every room/display case/wall is packed with jars and specimens. At first it doesnt look that big, but each hallway off the main square is huge with tones of displays.

- Wide variaty from rocks/minerals/ to sea crabs, snakes, reptiles, fish, water mammals, every kind of bug possible with alot of butterflies, human fetus, every kind of bird from small to toucan to Emu, Land mammals and rodents, even dinosaurs. This has it all.

-There is outside seating area

-Depending how interested you are in looking closely at each species or just some, you could spend 20 min with quick walk/glance or 20 hours looking at each one. Lots to see. They all have a species name, and translated to English if in another language, but not alot of other info.

-Was not very busy when i went there, say maybe 3 other groups/couples/familys walking. Oct 2022

-You are allowed to take pictures but no flash photography and no touching things(alto they are mostly all behind glass)

-Hall and display lights are on sensors, when no one is around the lights turn off and they respond to motion to turn back on. So when you walk up the display lights turn on.

I am glad i did this museum at the beginning of my 2 weeks in costa rica as it helped me identify some birds and bugs later on. I recommend it, i think you can get tour guide also, but i was fine walking around looking for myself.

Beautiful museum, with plenty of history of ancient human history and Costa Rican artifacts, as well as an art museum from local artists. A great stop to learn about the historical and cultural finds of the area
