This was a transformative experience for my son. In one year of classes with Mrs Yassami, I would estimate that my son’s drawing skills progressed by 2 or 3 years… No other experience provided such a dramatic improvement in my son’s skills so effectively and so quickly! I loved and respected how Mrs Yassami taught Bobby concrete fundamentals of drawing, dramatically improving his shading, proportions, depth. Sometimes, modern education especially in the arts veers too much towards self expression. Although some space for this is made in the class, the overall emphasis is on the children being challenged to see better and draw better, a challenge which is the truest route to improved ability and ultimately self-confidence. I strongly recommend this class to anyone whose child shows an inclination to visual art.

My son has learned a lot of foundations in this class and improves each time he has a class. Ms. Leila provides a calm environment with individualized attention. My son loves this class and can't wait to sign up again.

I write this review a little bit too late, but I just sat down to watercolor maybe 8 years after my first class with Joan, and thought I have to look her up again! Eight years later, I remember what she taught me. She is so methodical in making it as simple as possible. I have not touched my paints in 2 years and I still remember her techniques, she’s that good. I love that she tries to minimize waste, and that she has taught me how to make beautiful things with only a few classes. I am so appreciative Joan.
