I thoughly enjoyed my time at the Mill De Kat, seeing this impressive design and construction still functioning today. I loved seeing and hearing the mill in action with its heavy mill stones turning mineral stone to powder for classical paints. The modular construction of the huge gears and how the mill head could be turned by hand to catch the best wind by the windmill blades was inspiring.
This place is fantastic. Worth the tour bus ride. Tickets can be purchased at the train station Lots of history of how the windmills work & history of the area. Restaurants in the area on the tour. How they make the cheers and taste testing. Best cheers I’ve tasted yet. Check them out. Just an FYI to all tourists. All restrooms (toilets ) have a small fee so come prepared with spare change. Enjoy!

This is a must when in Amsterdam, lots to do and see. Lots of cheese samples and clog making show.

Seems like most reviews here are talking about Zaanse Schans as a whole rather than the paid Molenmuseum. The district as a whole is a 5/5, very picturesque, you can see the windmills up close and enter them, see the many animals around, ride the ferry down the river etc.

As for the museum itself, I'd give it a 3/5, its informative and interactive, but its quite small for the price of 12 euros. The main attraction really is the region itself which you can experience yourself for free.
Bought a day trip tour. The tour took us to this windmill village of Zaanse Schans. This particular windmill is still operating. It is used to make oil from peanuts. You will be amazed of the windmill mechanism inside. You can go up to the second floor for nice photos. There is a museum nearby. Buy a cup of coffee so you can use the toilet. It would be nice to have a little mpre time to check out other tourist shops as well.

Modern new museum about Zansche Schans area and its windmills. Service team is super friendly and might give you a small tour. Absolutely worth to visit. Every part of the museum is designed with so much love & passion. Enjoyed it a lot. It's interesting and entertaining . Plus you could buy a combi ticket and visit some of the different windmills. Something you don't want to miss during your visit.
It was astonishing experience exploring the Cat. The people working there were nice and friendly. The view from the windmill was breathtaking.
Me gustó mucho. Volvería.
This is indeed such a beautiful free place to go and explore and all the houses in green on the other side of the river were stunning... Beautiful place to visit at least once. The only thing I didn't like is the fact it was overcrowded and I went on a weekday around 10:00 h...

Very nice place, good walk around the area, the village is very pretty, but the mills and museums seemed quite crowded. 10/10 experience even without going inside the mills, I recommend getting the DIY cocoa from one of the cottages.
Absolutely lovely. A beautiful walk through of some mills along a waterway. It is pretty pricey for the time spent (imo) but I don’t regret it. There were lots of cats lol!
We choose to visit the area in the early morning and it was a good decision because at 9:20 a.m when we arrived there were some cars and few buses; after one and a half hours becoming extremely crowded (being also the Saturday of the extended weekend of May 1)
