This place is absolutely outstanding. We definitely came at the right time of the year and we could have spent so much longer there but had other places to visit too. It's a place you could visit again and again. The weather was great too which helped greatly.
Visited twice last week for the beautiful rhododendrons. Massive place and after two visits think there's still scope to explore. Nicely graded paths to get to far end of the site or the steep way down. Colour everywhere at this time of year (end of April). The Old Mill in the valley at the far end of site serves pasties(very tasty) , hot and cold drinks and ice cream and there are toilets. Lots of forms to while away the hours.
What a wonderful place it is! We were a little bit reserved at first because of the price but it is worth every penny. We visited the gardens in early May and found already a lot of flowers in bloom. Shere beauty! The gardens are worth every penny and the employees do a great job keeping everything clean and fresh. We spent nearly 5 hours there and could have spent even more time there. Definitely recommended.
Beautiful and extensive botanical gardens dating from the late 1700s/1800s, with a particular focus on rhododendrons and rare trees. Multiple pavilions, water features, and outbuildings dot the landscape, including a Grade II listed mill. Cafés at the top and bottom of the gardens provide coffees, snacks and ice-creams. Dog Friendly. Was particularly spectacular with spring blossom when I visited.
There's gardens are really beautiful. We visited in the spring when the committee were vibrant. I particularly love all the streams and brooks with the sound of running water as you walk. You can take a long walk or a shorter route and stop off at the cafe by the mill if you get tired.

Lovely gardens to walk around plenty of seating and close to centre of town
Superb National Trust site with a lovely walk through the gardens and a couple of small cafes and a small collection of craft shops and garden centre. Some of the routes can include steep paths. Plenty of benches and places for a picnic. Last visited at Easter where an Easter trail was available for a small cost with Easter egg. A great attraction to visit here in north Wales.
Stunning Gardens, even in March, there was plenty of rhododendrons, tulips, magnolias and blossom to see. The paths aren’t very well signposted so you will need the map. Lovely waterfalls and river also. Some paths were slippy and also quite steep so would recommend walking boots and ensure you check the distance beforehand as we did cover several kilometres.
My wife and I made our first visit here as we were in the area. No waiting to get in and a good overview of the walks and what we would see from one of the volunteers. The gardens and paths are well maintained by the army of volunteers we saw hard at work. Magnolia trees were beautiful in blossom along with some of the rhododendrons. We had a very pleasant walk (blue) around the estate taking in the water and the waterfall. Hot refreshments and a biscuit at the old mill before seeing the pin mill, unfortunately no reflection picture due to the rain. House looks great.
Lovely find on our walk.
