A truly delightful place to visit. Lots to see in the house. The gardens are beautiful and the park is very large. Excellent value for money. The staff are helpful and engaging. The cafes are good. For 5 stars I'd love to see a restaurant with cream teas and more gluten free options.
Visited on a bit of a rainy day in March. The venue is easy to find and the house is about a mile back from the main road if you are coming by public transport.

I would recommend stopping by for the free talk that’s delivered on the history of the home.

It’s a beautiful building, wonderfully furnished. It was a little smaller than I thought, didn’t take long to walk around.

The grounds are beautiful and obviously well known as Mr Darcy’s ancestral home, Pemberley, in the 90s Pride and Prejudice.

Parts of the grounds were closed off due to flooding. I bet the place is much more beautiful in Spring/Summer.

The cafe is quite small and limited, take a picnic if you can.
Beautiful walks with family if you have a sunny day.
Visited here for my sister’s birthday and really enjoyed the day out with family. There is lots of outdoor space for the children to run around and the inside of the house is great! You get to go properly into the rooms and sit in the little nooks (especially in the library) and interact with the house more here than most National Trust properties. There are also toys and games that children are allowed to play with inside the house which was a perfect little distraction. Be warned that the hill from the car park to the house is pretty steep! However it’s well worth the trek. Our most recent trip here wasn’t the first and it most definitely won’t be the last.
Beautiful place. Perfect for walking. With or without a dog.
Visitor centre not open but toilets available and plenty if places to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
National Trust place with restaurant and facilities close to entrance. Buggy available to take you to house and gardens. Small cafe with prepacked sandwiches etc. Excellent gardens being gradually updated to their former glory. Well with a visit.
Loved this huge park with and absolute amazing house and gardens, spent a good 40 mins walking around the house in a top hat and tails that they let you dress up in, got a few good pics and we enjoyed it very much. Large vehicle parking for our van which was a nice surprise and lots to do for everyone. Plenty of walks and hills to climb. We not a dog family but there was lots of dogs around but all on leads. Lovely afternoon defo worth going
A real jewel in the National Trust crown.
As you can probably see in photos, it is a great looking place with plenty of land to explore and areas to visit. You will definitely need a full day to get the most out of Lyme as there is way more to do than the house.
This house seems to be more interactive than most National Trust places. For one, I've not seen a Billiards table that you are allowed to play at an N.T. place before. You can also dress up in period costume and walk around the house, too, and why wouldn't you want to?
While we were there, they had an Easter hunt on, too.
If it all gets too much, then there are plenty of places to stop off for food. I think I counted at least 4, but there is likely to be more as we did miss a little bit.
The staff assisting in the disabled parking area were so very helpful too.
While this is definitely going to be a place that National Trust fans will definitely enjoy, it is also going to be enjoyed by most ages too.
Super day out for the Easter event, even a bit of rain didn't spoil it as we could finish off in the soft play! Lots of animals to feed, handling rabbit and guinea pigs. Great play areas for all ages
Had a fabulous time. Young staff were wonderful!! Kids loved the Easter theme 🐇
A very big house in the Country! Wow what a serene place. Impeccable Lanscapes gardens with lake and an orangery, surrounding this imposing estate. If you’re looking to escape reality and feel like a king for a day this place is a must see. Entry to the estate includes going into the mansion, it’s incredible to think that a family lived in this sort of place.
Well worth a visit, plenty to do here.
Set in beautiful gardens, parkland to explore view points like paddock cottage, the Lantern and the cage.
After all that walking stop off for coffee and lunch in the timber yard.
Our grandchildren love it here it's about a 20 min drive from us . We bought duck food from the cafe and walked down to the weir. It's a lovely walk . They always want a picnic there. Then walked back by the water , then they had hot chocolate with all the trimmings.
Great country park. The path around is accessible in most places. We had a baby buggy with us and it’s easy enough to get around. There are muddy spots but you can keep to a quiet road and avoid them. Stunning weir part way round. Lots of wildlife to see too.
I love this park! Took my toddler along and we fed the ducks and the geese!
The cafe’s really nice too
Lovely little walk round.be beautiful in summer too.. cafe prices r a bit steep for ice creams.. ect.. but lovely if Ur planning a pic nic..(dog friendly) xxx
Great place for a decent sized walk with kids and can explore the forests on the sides of the lake.

There’s a good size car park which you need to pay for, and a cafe and toilets at the entrance. There’s some toilets further up the walk too.

Plenty of benches dotted around on the paths and some picnic benches further up towards the weir.

Near the car park there’s a pond with ducks and occasionally some model boats which are great for kids to watch.

It can be fairly muddy in some places due to recent rainfall so recommend wellies or walking boots.

Dogs are allowed but recommend keeping in a leash due to large numbers of ducks and geese.
Cheap parking and cafe and toilets, with a beautiful setting of a lake and waterfall, perfect way to spend a couple of hours with the family.
Lovely place for a relaxing walk with the family. We'll worth a few hours here, kids will love feeding the ducks.
Veldig fin og vill park. Litt gjørmete å gå noen plasser, men lite folk. Mye gamle trær og en elv som renner igjennom parken.
Abseloutley love it! 4 miles of lovely scenery, and a nice way to get your steps in.
We always love coming to the Vale as a family, and the visitors centre provides snacks, drinks and feed for the ducks. It also has a little playroom which hosts a toddler group once a week, along with being an area which you can find out about nature.
