This review concerns only the Mies van der Rohe building. The visit to this 20th century icon is breathtaking for any architecture enthusiast. The museum is situated below ground so the whole building can remain empty and cavernous in the way its architect probably imagined it.
We have been here twice already! Perfect place for a chill evening or afternoon. I recommend planning at least 1 hour if all the installations should be experienced fully as the lights and patterns keep changing.

Be aware that it is more of an experience and less of an interactive exhibition except for the last room.

Christian art. Best masterpieces displayed.
Everyone so kind to mother with infant, helping everywhere, while elevator is slightly hidden, thus need assistance to move to different floors.
I've frequented the Berlinische Galerie numerous times, my recent visit being to explore the Munch exhibition. It was truly captivating to encounter several previously unseen paintings by the artist, adding depth to my appreciation of his work. While I opted to skip the permanent exhibition this time, having visited it on previous occasions, I enjoyed coffee and a cake in the gallery's charming café.

The gallery is quite large and covers a variety of timelines and share historical significance alongside art pieces. The current exhibition rooms has interesting from Picasso to a sculpture of Karl Marx. Overall, a good experience. Security is strict so do make sure not to touch anything by accident — watch your steps as little alarms ring when you step to close to certain art pieces.

Dark Matter steps into an unparalleled multimedia experience that defies description. This extraordinary installation mesmerizes, captivates, and effortlessly transports you beyond the confines of time. Truly unique, it's a masterpiece that leaves an indelible mark on your soul. Amazing the spheres and grid rooms
Great work of the architects to create an exposition space inside the shelter.

Art inside needs too much narrative, and when narrated it's common discussion in art since at least sixty years.

Only Anna Uddenberg's work can stand alone without being explained
Fabulous space with very layered history of the last decades that made this building (and the city of Berlin) what it is today. Naturally, it is unique to experience contemporary art in this space however the guided tour was too packed with information and too rushed, leaving little space to individual experience of artworks. Austere and overly didactic attitude of the guide didn’t help either.
The museum I enjoyed the most from the ones we visited on the museum island (The Panorama, Alte Nationalgalerie, Neues Museum, Altes Museum).
It features an exquisite collection of paintings, and some statues and sculptures. I, in particular, liked some of the displayed works of Carl Spitzweg and Caspar David Friedrich.
You can immerse yourself for several hours in the collection.

The Bode-Museum houses a vast and impressive collection of sculptures and Byzantine art. If you're a fan of classical sculpture, religious iconography, or historical artifacts, you'll find hours of fascinating exhibits here. I particularly enjoyed the collection of early Italian Renaissance pieces.
Really interesting experience, some of the rooms were actually interesting but for 22€ I’d say is really overrated. The first, second and fifth rooms were the ones that I found interesting and actually worth going. It was also to crowed so you couldn’t have the full experience. And the fact that they have student special price only in Thursdays pisses me off completely !!!
The Brandenburg Gate in Berlin is an iconic masterpiece that seamlessly blends history and architecture. Its neoclassical design exudes grandeur, and the Quadriga on top adds a majestic touch. Whether bathed in sunlight or illuminated at night, the Gate is a captivating sight. The significance it holds as a symbol of German unity and historical events further enhances its appeal. A visit to Brandenburg Gate is a must for anyone seeking a profound connection to Berlin's rich past and a visual feast for architecture enthusiasts.

Typically, I find it challenging to connect with modern art, but my experience at the Berlinische Galerie was surprisingly different. The artworks, focused on sustainability and the human impact on the natural world, resonated deeply with me. What enhanced my experience further were the well-crafted explanations accompanying each piece, which provided valuable insights and deepened my understanding and appreciation.
The Fotografiska Museum Berlin is OK, not the best compared with the other Fotografiskas. The building and the vibe were really nice and Berlinish but as it is quite new, they could have started off with stronger exhibitions and not stay on such mainstrem level. The nude exhibition was quite good out of all three exhibitions. Since the ticket price isn’t that high would recommend it anyway.
The Gallery was just an AMAZING EXPERIENCE. I was astonished by amount of beautiful paintings and statues. The Gallery is HUUUGE. There are 3 floors of exhibitions and there’s a little souvenir shop on -1 floor. The exhibitions were breathtaking, i definitely recommend to come here. The souvenir shop is tiny but really cute, prices are kinda high though. You can buy books, chocolate, postcards and even drink coffee there. Museum caretakers were nice and smiled:) A big thank You to a lady at the ticket place for helping me :)) definitely a must visit in Berlin. 10/10.

Nice place but over too crowded. You’re entering the rooms by the groups so for the first 3 exactions it was hard to enjoy. But still I recommend to visit it, but maybe if you have a chance choose weekdays and it will be less people there
It's too expensive for what they offer, in comparison to other museums in Berlin. It's a small museum, it gets easily crowded. Diverse games and optical illusions, so go there accompanied to fully enjoy the experience.
Medium sized modern Art Museum with collection from 1950-2000. Will take an hour, maybe slightly more to see it all if in a rush, else a couple of hours. The building and cafe are also really nice - architecturally speaking. Overall, Loved this museum. Been meaning to come here for a while but had never made it. Totally recommend.

A gargantuan old Prussian pile of museum with a capital M at the spitze of Museum Island, cupolas, curling staircases, pomp and majesty. The collection is equally fascinating if a bit haphazard—paintings and sculpture from Italy, Germany, Spain, France, and the Low Countries. A wonderful Bronzino portrait, a small Giambologna, trunks, capitals and other architectural fragments from Byzantium, you can easily spend the whole day in here! Worth coming back to again and again, there is always something new to discover or some overlooked corner to see. Oh yeah they have a huge collection of coins too.

This was a truly amazing experience. It’s like a spa for your brain. Highly recommend ! Words can’t discribe how good this is. Would come every week if living there.

Be aware that the toilets are available 15min in the exhibition

Always a pleasure to visit, I was able to see the Munch exhibit. It was lovely see his close relationship with Berlin represented in the exhibit. The permanent exhibition on second floor gives a nice quick overview of Berlin art between 1880-1980 and showcases some less well known artists.
Edgy contemporary photographic art on floors 3, 4 and 5. The entrance fee is hefty compared to the smallness of the exhibitions, the shop is not worth the photo theme. Best is the graffiti covered staircase reminding of the independent occupied art center after the wall came down.
Galleries are not really my scene, but have to say I actually enjoyed it. We went to see the Edvard Munch display which was really impressive. We got the Audio guides which gave the story behind each painting, which was very interesting.
The gallery was alot smaller than I expected, but still plenty to see. We had to wait just under an hour to get in, but considering it was free Sunday, it wasn't that long a wait.
I found it definitely worth the visit.

Visited the Bode Museum in Berlin and had an amazing time! The building's fancy, old-fashioned charm on a special island sets the tone for a unique experience. Inside, a diverse collection of ancient artworks captivated me, especially the detailed sculptures and historical coins. The museum offers stunning views of the river and the city, creating a picturesque backdrop. Signs, audio guides, and friendly staff make exploring the exhibits informative and enjoyable. Even for someone not typically into history, this museum proved to be an exception, thanks to the architect's brilliance. The inclusion of a 3-day museum pass was a nice bonus. Highly recommend adding Bode Museum to your Berlin checklist if you appreciate art and history – a great overall experience!
Exquisite collection of paintings and sculptures.

Very well selected artworks from French and German impressionists, symbolist and post impressionist, artists such as Camille Pizarro, Cezanne, Monet, Manet, Gauguin, Max Lieberman, share different rooms in the Museum.

If you are an art lover in search of excellent exhibited paintings, this is a must for you in Berlin.

The architecture of the museum is another amazing spectacle.

Don't miss the dome, you will learn incredible history when you see this decorated ceiling!

I was extremely impressed and touched by this spectacular museum and the exhibition I've seen. I could have spent a full day there taking in all the experiences and the subtleties of every object exposed. Excellent lay out, great audio guide, rich array of stimuli - everything contributed to creating a very enriching, thought-provoking experience. I loved the themes, the powerful visuals, and all the detailed work that went into creating this world-class experience. The building itself is gorgeous, the design so inviting for reflection and perspective. I look forward to going back there soon!

We saw the winter lights outdoor exhibition. At first disappointed that it was only one installation. However: Well thought through, interesting, and immersive piece with both visual, sensory (in the form of smoke machines), and audio elements. I was very inspired by the thing. Also: props for selling beverages! The pricing for the indoor exhibition was too steep.
I had zero expectations before visiting this museum, deciding to go because it was free at that time. Knowing it primarily focused on art and photography, I hoped to gain a new perspective on these mediums.

The museum featured three exhibitions. The first, titled "NUDE," stood out as the most interesting. It presented a fresh take on the beauty of nudes, offering a different perspective. While not entirely my preference, I appreciated the chance to learn something new.

The second exhibition was the most forgettable, consisting of red, blue, and color photography with bodies layered on them, claiming it to be "art."

The last one, "whiteface," seemed to convey a passive-aggressive message about racial issues among white people. Whether I agreed or disagreed wasn't necessarily the point, as I found myself indifferent.

The museum also housed a shop and a bar. The shop had a well-designed interior and was well-maintained. The bar was equally nice, with a pleasant atmosphere and respectful patrons. This museum may cater to a specific audience, and while it might not be entirely my taste, it has its merits.
Interesting by architectural style place. A lot of space, several bars and shop. They picked up some strong and important for society topics. But some of displays were a bit questionable for the resources used by artist to lead viewer’s opinion.

Small but interesting Munch’s exposition, nice gallery. Quite miniature but great space for the exhibitions

Bode Museum, Berlin accommodates a number of collections of art from the middle ages to the late 18th century. It also houses one of the must important coin collections of 4000 coins and medallions charting the history of mankind from the begining of minting in the 7th century BC to the Euro of the present day.

Buy tickets way in advance. 4 stars because the building is fascinating and very interesting but tour itself fails to capture much of that imagination. Crazy to think it’s all in private hands now and makes me question the gentrification/ commercialisation of art.
Book a timeslot 2 weeks before visiting the museum. You get a unique insight in the Bunker and its history.

Unfortunately very disappointed from the exhibition choice made in Berlin.
I have been to Fotografiska in Stockholm and was simply amazing. So I was very happy to know Fotografiska was coming in Berlin as well.

Now the location is very cool, and happy they kept part of the soul of the building. BUT the coffee concept very different from Stockholm.
The exhibition choice felt to me less about photography, and more on getting busy to give out very strong messages.
A very different feeling compared to Stockholm. And I personally did not like it or got positive impressed.

Very nice museum that is a part of Berlin Museum Isle. But on the contrary from other museums available without waiting and also on internet. A nice collection of Middle-age and Renaissance art. The Ravenna fresque is awesome. The stairs are also very nice. The price is really reasonable.
One of the best places to explore for around 30-60 minutes and also one of the most budget friendly places. The entry is only around 10 euros and you can take plenty of cool pictures plus learn and experiment with all sorts of optical illusions
In één woord: indrukwekkend!
