It has been a few years since the safety issues made me promise not to go back, so I can't say if they've changed, but the staff were very young and immature (getting in to shouting matches on a local playground), but, more importantly, not getting off their phones so they can see what their charges were doing, esp when out in public. Another mom reported the teens didn't know who all the kids in their group were at a local playground so when they were leaving they had the count off by one, but did not know who the missing child was since this is a playground open to the public with many other children and adults. They say they spend a lot of time outside, but it was always "too hot" so the kids were always inside at pick up (even though the Hill Center has a lot of shade on the eastern side). They'd also never let us in to the building - just all around sketchy for me.

I am deeply disappointed with Busy Bees DC. On July 15, 2024, my four-year-old daughter was left unattended without anyone notifying me. There is no headcount system, creating a serious safety risk. The camp staff are grade school students on their phones, not trained teachers. Despite being advertised as a performing arts camp, my child was simply babysat and played with blocks. This is not what we signed up for. I urge parents to reconsider before enrolling their children here.

A couple days before camp started, parents were informed that we were not allowed to meet the counselors or see the classroom (camp room). I have no idea how many kids were in my child’s class or what it looks like. It seemed really disorganized and like the counselors were all teenagers. Photos were sent each week, but over the entire summer, I only received a couple photos that included my child. I received so many photos of other kids. It was really weird. My child didn’t seem to enjoy it and we won’t go back.
