I had one of the worst experiences ever trying to visit this art gallery. At the ticket desk, it says no bags allowed. But no bag dimensions. To me, a bag typically means a backpack.

I had a mini purse that had my credit cards, glasses, medicine, and some cash in it. When I went to check my coat at the coat check, the man standing there was trying to insist that I leave this mini wallet size purse with him. I refused and he said there’s a no bag policy. This doesn’t constitute a bag. If you’re going to instate a bag policy, you have to post the dimensions. I did not feel comfortable leaving my belongings at a coat check, not to mention, it’s also obvious I had nothing in this mini purse that would do anything to any artwork.

If that’s what they were concerned about, then they should search people’s bags like other museums or galleries all around the world do. So I decided to leave then and not view the artwork because I was being treated so terribly. I couldn’t get my money back at the gallery so I had to contact my credit card company to revoke the charge from my account.

So make sure if you’re going to visit you don’t bring even a purse or prepare to check it.

Einige wirklich tolle Exponate! Man bekommt auch einen Plan beim Eintritt, womit man sich leicht zurechtfindet. Die Highlights sind gut verteilt. Man langweilt sich nicht. Alles ist gut in Szene gesetzt.
Unter der Woche war sehr wenig los, da hatte man das Museum quasi für sich alleine - niemand weit und breit. Trotzdem schien es nicht erwünscht (leise) die Kunst zu diskutieren. Als jüngere Leute wurde man schon sehr beäugt. Es war auch extrem warm drinnen. Allerdings war's die Kunst das absolut wert.

Die Modigliani Ausstellung ist sehr beindruckend und zieht den Besucher in die Welt und die Zeit dieses aussergewöhnlichen Malers.
Viele Skizzen, Exponate und die begleitende Biografie sorgen für Atelierfeeling und Pariser Flair gleichermaßen.
Der Dokumentarfilm ist absolut empfehlenswert- unbedingt angucken!
Natürlich ist die Kunstsammlung der Staatsgalerie überhaupt spannend und vielseitig.
Danke an alle, die das organisieren, begleiten und sich freundlich kümmern.

Ich habe lange nicht mehr so viele tolle Künstler in einem Museum gesehen. Absolut sehenswert !

Amazing collection of northern renaissance art, completely ruined by an absolute creep of a male security guard who was following me around from room to room and staring at me for my entire 3 hour visit. All the staff from the desk to the cafe were miserable and unfriendly too. I have visited every noteworthy museum in western Europe and east coast America and the only other city I’ve encountered such rude and unpleasant staff is in Leipzig, so maybe it’s a cultural difference that I’m not understanding. Having said that, I didn’t have these problems in Munich, Hamburg or Berlin museums. Needless to say I won’t be returning in a hurry.

Modiliani exhibition was amazing and very well organised. Thank you, the gallery's team!

I went there on Wednesday and they give us free ticket also known as „Mittwoch Eintritt frei“

Das Gebäude ist von Außen sehr schön und interessant, ein wahres Meisterwerk der Postmoderne, allerdings von Innen wirkt es billig und chaotisch. Wir waren weder Fan von den Ausstellungsstücken (mit Ausnahme von Otto Dix), noch von dem Personal.

Lovely, quiet art museum featuring Monet, Picasso and Renoir, just to name a few.
