AVOID!
I attended this practice on Tuesday morning for the first time, I was seen by Dr. Morrison I told her I was in the worse sundden pain I have ever experienced, I'm young and overall a typical healthy woman, So this was very much abnormal for me to be suddenly in so much pain in my stomach I couldn't even walk. I had empathised to Dr. Morrison just how bad the pain was, however she just seemed more interested in getting me out the room and on my way. I was sent away in unbearable pain without any pain killers or any type of pain relief. Later on the same day I decided to take myself to hospital (thank god I trusted my own body and knew to go to hospital) within a few hours of being in hospital the doctors figured out what was happening straight away and I was rushed for an emergency operation. When I was in the gp practice room with Dr. Morrison she knew I was in an extreme amount of pain and i repeatedly told her it must be serious and it won't just "hopefully pass" is what she kept trying to tell me ( I was right it wasn't going to pass)
My condition would have been hard for a doctor to miss, It is hard to understand how Dr. Morrison was the only doctor who I had seen who thought there was nothing wrong with me, every other professional I seen later in the same day at the hospital all knew straight away I was NOT Ok , it is hard to understand how a professional can send you away in unbearable pain, especially when it ended up being a simple diagnosis that she SHOULD HAVE been able to figure out and know something was wrong and should have advised me to go to the hospital immediately. I had just changed My gp to this medical practice a few months prior to this incident and this was my first time attending this practice, I want to assure anyone of thinking about going to this gp practice or changing over to this gp practice, DON'T what I experienced from this gp practice was nothing short from patient neglect. I got lucky that I decided to take myself into the hospital and did not stay at home waiting for the pain to "pass" like Dr. Morrison told me to, anything could have happened to me and If I would have waited any longer to take myself to hospital or if I would have listened to Dr. Morrison I might have not survived.
I'm not the first person to have had issues with this doctor so for your own safety do NOT go to her, not worth the risk.
Staff are really polite and respectful and the Doctors are always well informed and helpful.
The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is that one of the GP's (Morrison perhaps???) is quite rude & dismissive on the phone. Because of this it took over a year for Dr. Morgan to pick up on my symptoms & arrange a blood test & I can honestly say this simple blood test saved my life. I was discovered to have h pylori & after puking blood with the antibiotics over Christmas I ended up in a small local hospital. I had a bad seizure & stopped breathing & was rushed to ARI. It turned out that the symptoms I had been complaining about all year were down to autoimmune encephalitis, which I'm now thankfully getting treated for. Had Dr Morgan not discovered the original bacteria though, I would not have been in hospital in time to be intubated & it's a scary thought as I stopped breathing multiple times between Elgin & ARI. A small note on Dr Douglas too. Lots of people seem to have problems with her but zi've always found her helpful. The poor woman had to deal with my hospital phobia when the ambulance crew arrived unexpectedly one day & I was terrified but she dealt with it well & gave me lots of info & kept me calm. The reception staff are all nice too.
Be aware that attempting to secure an appointment may involve repeatedly calling, upwards of 128 times, between 8:30 and 9:00 AM, only to be informed once connected that no appointments are available, except possibly for emergencies. It's suggested that this GP practice could benefit from adopting a waiting list system, akin to what is common elsewhere in the NHS, to manage this better. Should you be unlucky, you might find yourself with no option but to rely on over-the-counter remedies like paracetamol or leave without any medication at all. While I cannot speak for other practices, my experiences with this one have been disappointing more often than not.
I want to thank the whole team at Crail Medical Practice. The GP's have been great with me, and I am starting to see real progress with my condition. Had an appointment with Dr Douglas today. She was polite, direct and gave me some useful information.

It's an excellent service considering the work load they are under. I wouldn't be in rush to take it for granted.
Myself and my infant daughter (9 months at the time) started to cough terribly, mostly during the night - to the point of vomiting and choking because of that.
We went to CMC 4 times with our baby's cough (mentioning each time that I am affected as well) - every and each time only basic checks were done. GP mentioned that there's currently an outbreak of whooping cough, but they didn't bother to collect a swab sample and check it.

Weeks passed, but cough remained. After over 3 months of choking every day, I went there again - this time the GP took a swab sample against whooping cough (also sent me to chest xray), but it came back empty. I was asked if I have any idea what might actually cause my cough (!!!). I asked for blood test against whooping cough, as it is only detectable via swab sample during first weeks of infection. Blood tests were taken and came back positive. I was told I can only wait now as it is too late for a treatment.

Whooping cough is often a mortal disease for babies this age and can not be neglected. My baby could die because nobody bothered to check something they themselves told me there is an outbreak of.

It is now full 4 months after the cough started and both myself and the baby still struggle with this. We have left the practice as soon as we got my blood test results. Seems that I have diagnosed myself and my daughter.

Avoid.
Total joke of a surgery, staff have no empathy or understanding of personal situations. I work so it's hard to call at 8.30 but when I do I'm never shorter than a 25 min wait , my days off , try dealing a new born while on hold to this practice then to be told you have to call tomorrow or see a pharmacy, on average you might get to speak to a doctor after day 3 ,i was told if you call at 8.30 not 8.31 you might get an appointment , and when you get to see a doctor don't be surprised when they google your symptoms .
I've had a cough longer than 2 weeks just seen an advert that says go see you gp ..only to be told no we advise go see a pharmacist, anything so they don't have to see you .
I think a health board review of this surgery is long over due !!!.
And for comparison I deal with two other GPS practices that are within 1 mile of this practice and have never had any difficulties whats so ever .
I have been with carntyne for years but never really had to use them until the last year I will be changing from this gp's practice to a more professional one
