Fantastic monument to a Scottish military regiment now lost to time as its now just the Royal regiment of Scotland..the site also makes a great vantage point

Il Royal Scots Greys fu un reggimento di cavalleria dell'esercito britannico dal 1707 al 1971, quando si fusero con il 3rd Carabiniers dando così nascita al Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. Il motto del Royal Scots Greys 'second to none' fa riferimento al grado di anzianità all'interno dell'esercito britannico e alla loro abilità nel combattimento. Tuttavia il motto ufficiale era 'Nemo Me Impune Lacessit'.

L'imponente statua equestre in bronzo , dedicata ai 'Royal Scots Grey' , un celebre reggimento di cavalleria , già conosciuto ai tempi delle guerre napoleoniche , è stata eretta nel 1906 ; è posizionata in Princes Street , accanto ai giardini su una struttura rocciosa .
