Excellent omakase experience with fresh tasting and high quality fish. Would definitely recommend going for lunch which is reasonably priced for what you get.
Having lived in Japan, there are few places in Vancouver that really hit the same vibe as what it was like to stroll into a casual neighborhood sushi place. Miko is the one that's hit that mark the best and I look forward to every trip there. The ochazuke is a must buy.

Came here on the recommendation of a few friends while on vacation and it did not disappoint!
I could not tell you what my table ordered, but what I can tell you is that the presentation of every dish was mind-blowing and it all tasted even better than it looked!
I'd give this 6 stars if I could, a definite culinary highlight of our trip!

Very good quality food! The Oshi/Sushi/Cooked food were all very very good. This place does run on the pricier side so it is not a place we would go to regularly, but definitely would consider it a place for special occasions.

Service and atmosphere are also very good.
My husband and I have been looking for a new sushi place since the one we normally go to has gone downhill. We got takeout; called the place to order since their online ordering system didn't work. The staff generously gave us 25 percent off which is the deal online when we explained that we couldn't order online. The sushi and food quality however was disappointing. I ordered a black dragon sushi roll, and the bbq eel was on the chewier, harder side. So was the imitation crab. The bao bun had way too much mayonnaise and the pork belly was just okay. The sushi rolls in general were not as fresh tasting. We'll have to find another takeout place.

Worth Trying.

A very popular Korean run Japanese restaurant. Huge menu with endless options, as well as a try hard take on standard fare.

Special Dinner Bento: Good value here, at $29 you're getting a huge plate of beef teriyaki (bulgogi basically), which is cooked to perfection. Smokey char, great stir fry. This sits on a bed of salad leaves, which sits on top of a mound of stir fry veggies.

Not to mention the two huge mounds of mash, and some other small side dishes.
The oshi is okay - way too dense and packed, and the rice isn't vinegared well. Sashimi is okay, not the thickest cuts.

The rest of the menu is actually pretty good value with most rolls under $15.

Doesn't take AMEX. Expect $20-40pp. Drinks are decent, $7 a pint which is amazing.

We went here on Saturday lunch and they do offer lunch menu. We had such a pleasant experience in here. Food was great and fish quality was excellent. Lunch menu is perfect for those who want to try many dishes. Atmosphere is modern and the service was friendly. We had seasonal dessert made with strawberries and it was super. However, the green tea opera dessert is better in Miku.
Great omakase! Went for lunch and it was delicious and had good value. Story telling for each item was nice.

"Absolutely loved my experience at Sushi Mugen! The food was delicious and definitely value for money. The service was impeccable - the staff were so cooperative and attentive. Can't wait to visit again!"
An unreal experience. The owner/head chef is so knowledgeable about each dish and carefully explains everything before handing it to you. Absolutely incredible experience!!!

Their dine-out 2024 menu was such a great bang for your buck! All the pictures in this review are all included in the set menu.

Everything was delicious, from appetizer to dessert! Will definitely go back for next year’s dine-out event.
Friendly and fast service. Delightful sake. My takoyaki was full of delicious soft batter but not very much octopus. Cozy atmosphere. I wish there was a no cellphone talking and then it would be perfect! I will go again because they are Ocean Wise certified and sustainable seafood is most important to me! Great value.
Although a little pricey, the food is great. The staff always comes to your table to ask if you need anything and if you only order a few dishes/less than what they expect for each table, they seem to expect you to order more. Atmosphere is great but same the staff is a bit annoying.
Thank you Kevin for giving us an amazing Omakase experience on our anniversary!! 셰프님 정말 맛있게 먹었습니다 다음에 또뵈요!!
Intimate setting, attentive service staff, with a creative and delicious menu. The chef is charismatic and interacts with customers well (big points since this is a lot of effort). The two knocks I have: 1) the lunch menu provides much greater value than the dinner so if you haven't been here yet, I'd suggest trying the lunch first. 2) the staff will be washing dishes in front of you if there's another round after yours.
Phenomenal experience, exceptional service. Would definitely recommend. Hands down best omakase in Vancouver
Wow! This has got to be the best value for money Omakase in Vancouver. Not only was the food exceptional, but Chef Kevin Shin and his team were so friendly and engaging. I would highly recommend this dining experience. Will be back for sure.
Really enjoyed the lunch omakase! The whole experience was amazing and I do love how Chef Kevin is interacting with all of us and explaining everything. Everything was so fresh and so good. I will be back for the dinner omakase.
Awesome food. One of best sushi I've been. Highly recommended.
Been coming here very often since we moved to yaletown. Loved their happy hour menu (3-6pm). Sadly recently the happy hour no longer include the food only the beverages which is a shame. But the food is still good.
Update 12/26/22: This time we ate in, the restaurant is fairly large with lots of tables.
The very large menu offers Japanese and Korean items.
Half of us are vegans and the menu is very accommodating in its selections.
Everything was beautifully presented, well cooked and delicious (pics included)
Total bill for 13 items plus a Diet Coke- $158.52

First time take out sushi in environmentally-friendly packaging included: Spicy DF Cauliflower (little bit oily), Crispy Tempura Tofu (very good), California Roll and Tempura Yam Roll was quite good.
Our vegans order often from here and this was a Mother’s Day treat.
I will ask if MSG is used next time though.
