We visited the temporary exhibition about football (please don’t call it soccer). Bilingual (German/English) descriptions everywhere. Mostly photographs, I had hoped for videos with audio commentary, but none of that. Limited audio guide accessible through the Ruhr Museum app. Great photographs though. We didn’t book a tour but were able to listen in whilst strolling through the exhibition - I would recommend you book that guide!
Only a quick visit to the permanent exhibition, certainly a lot to explore.

What an amazing place of industrial heritage. One can only try to imagine this site bustling with activity, 8000 people on site and the noise and smell and dust and dirt. All this started by Franz Haniel to mine the black gold. We benefited from a well informed tour guide who helped to bring this to life, highly recommended since this gives you access to buildings equipped with sound and video installations.
