Levain is specialised in baking sourdough and pastries, which you can dine in or takeaway. Dining in is preferable as the waitress will reheat it for you and the vibe is like a French vintage hub serving loafs of warm bread. Ordered a sourdough with parma ham and gruyere as a breakfast. The sourdough is thickly sliced and very fragrant. The taste of fermentation is just right, though it is a bit dry. The ham and cheese in the middle moistened the bread a bit. I would prefer soft cheese like brie to gruyere. Croissant is pretty good as well. Although the lamination isn’t perfect with an even honeycomb structure, the layers are prominent, thin and crispy. The butter flavour isn’t as strong but I didn’t feel greasy after finishing one. Also, I tried dipping the croissant into the latte, feeling like a French. The thick milk foam is good for dipping but not silky for just drinking it.

Bagel gogo is a two-man shop, selling different bagels and cream cheese spread. They specialise in making sweet and savoury bagel and customers can choose the bagel flavours. Therefore, the bagels are prepared rather slow. I waited for 30 minutes for the sweet bagel as a wrong order is delivered. The bagels are chewy and fragrant. Chicken chop with pineapple is a good combo. The chicken thigh is thick and juicy, but the pineapple is not grilled, bit sad🥲 The sweet bagel is filled with black sugar mochi, mashed taro and pork floss. The portion of each layer is generous but the combo doesn’t taste as good as it sounded. I’m a bit disappointed by the taro and mochi as the taste isn’t strong enough. On the other hand, the rose latte is phenomenal with sweet rose petals in it.

Overall, the food is rather disappointing. Ordered a pasta and a coffee, perhaps I should order the avocado and egg salad toast? The pasta is quite pricy given that the quality is average. The pasta is al dente but it is not seasoned well. Despite the black truffle sauce is thick and creamy, the pasta itself is bland when you have chewed for a period of time. The onsen egg is also not a good choice with the pasta or the mushrooms. The latte is also a bit bland and the texture is thin. Given this experience, probably won’t revisit this cafe.
