Wuppertal's Botanical Garden is a must-see if you are in the area. It is a great place to explore and enjoy the plants and animals of the region. The beautiful buildings create a lovely backdrop for some gorgeous photos. The Cafe is cute and has some delicious teas/coffees/desserts, as well as some lunch plates.
I do recommend using a flashlight in the bathrooms, though. I couldn't find a light switch anywhere so they may rely on natural light.
