We visited the zoo on a weekday, the ticket price was very reasonable. We bought the tickets from the kiosk at the zoo, however there are self-service points that you can purchase tickets from. We arrived when it opened at 9am and left around 4pm. We completed the whole zoo so you should allow enough time provided you want to explore all. There were a variety of activities you could see throughout the day such as watching the elephants train or the penguins having breakfast. There were food kiosks throughout, but it seemed these had some very long queues, so we preferred to buy snacks, rather than have a meal. I would definitely recommend the zoo to everyone visiting Budapest!
