At first sight, I thought this would be just another medieval cathedral. But thanks to the local guide, it was much more. There is a great story about Essen Cathedral being one of the first education institutions for women and about sacred artisan products the "students of Cathedral" made! The cathedral also has a beautiful statue of Our Lady and a great collection of saints' relics (a lot of them being both Orthodox and Catholic saints). All in one, all credit to the local guides who made the visit to the cathedral beautiful and meaningful! Places like this could really be the bridge between the East and the West!
