Our experience with Spiral Media Marketing was disappointing, and we wanted to share our perspective to help others make an informed decision.
From the outset, communication and deliverables were inconsistent. Meetings were unproductive and often cut short to 15-30 minutes due to lack of preparation, with some being canceled or postponed altogether. When we requested immediate action to build on our 15 years of SEO data, the team prioritized audits that provided generic and inaccurate insights, including keywords we had previously flagged as negatives.
Website fixes became a prolonged process with unclear communication. We agreed they’d either handle website fixes in-house or refer us elsewhere, but it took them a month to inform us they’re not able to handle it. They provided a general estimate that the changes we wanted would take 3–6 months and cost $7,500–$10,000, while a full redesign would take 6–12 months and start at $35,000. Since leaving, we’ve been working with a developer and have made significant satisfactory progress on web optimization within just two weeks for less than $1,000.
Based on our 15 years of in-house expertise, Spiral Media’s services appeared more suited for startups rather than established businesses. Their approach lacked the technical depth, efficiency, and speed we needed. While Karl, the owner, is knowledgeable and had been helpful in the past as a consultant, the company overall did not meet our expectations for high-level marketing support.
When we decided to cancel due to these issues, the process was complicated by shifting blame and denial. We were offered an $850 refund on the $5,000 paid, but only received $750, which further reflected the lack of follow-through on promises made.
In summary, we cannot recommend Spiral Media Marketing for businesses seeking advanced marketing solutions. While their services may work for newer companies, our experience as an established business was unsatisfactory.
