So, the big question I always has is: Can you book an independent Dhow trip up the Creek?. Well we just happened to get this ticket included in a Big Red Bus day ticket, but YES you can. They sell Dhow tickets adjacent to the Spice & Gold markets for $20 (US) or local currency. The trip is 1hr, goes up the Creek and the down. Its not thrilling but present, particularly if sit on top level of Dhow in open air and drive along. They play local music from a couple of big speakers up top. They have the reconstructed Old Streets (some spice shops with over enthusiastic shop owners & frankly i dont this at all cheap) on other side of the Creek from the gold Souk- that's pretty, good for photographs, clean loos & boarding point if you've the big Red Bust Dhow ticket. When busy, that bus stop is thought to board bus at.
The area is clean and tidy. A large shopping mall much like many others. Has a kids play area towards the top. Fish ponds make it interesting. We're not big shoppers but it's fairly well set.
