An average Italian restaurant to me, which was very good but also nothing special.

The focaccia and oil was great and the gnocchi was decent too, but I didn’t think the meatballs were special.

I liked the pizzas we got and the calzone was neat to order but they felt a little forgettable. Broccoli on a pizza was a bit unnecessary.

The basil ice cream was very memorable and mint-y in a refreshing way.

We got in line at 7:15 pm, 15 min before opening. Thankfully, we got seated immediately and didn’t have to wait. I wouldn’t suggest waiting for this place for more than 20 minutes, and I’d stay away from the Florentine steak.

The truffle gnocchi was really good but it tasted like baked American mac and cheese. It also came out so fresh that it was extremely hot. You have to let it cool for 2-3 minutes before it’s even worth touching (I recommend mixing it). The truffle was a little strong but the gnocchi is pretty heavy. Just get the small portion of the gnocchi, and even that might be too much.

The lasagna was pretty good too, slightly better than the average I’ve had here, but didn’t wow me. I would order it again.

Last but not least, the Florentine steak was just awful. So little flavor, and even less tender. It wasn’t even a real Florentine steak, there was no bone in the middle (there was no real “T”). At least it was cheap, only 50 euros. I guess you get what you pay for.

This was a bustling location, small and compact with bar seating to watch all the magic in the kitchen unfold before you.

My favorites were the croquettes, the prawn tortilla, the bread with tomato, and the beef tenderloin.

Everything is prepared with precision though and a certain quality that’s amazing to see.
The best non Naples pizza I’ve had in Italy so far.

The right amount of toppings and chew. The pepperoni was pretty special.

We just had to wait in a queue for around 40 min.

I’m appalled by the dissonance between my opinion and the numerous positive reviews of this restaurant.

This was among the worst pasta I’ve had during my time here in Italy and it’s not even close.

I couldn’t enjoy a single dish here: the burrata was not fresh or creamy and the anchioves were an odd choice, the crème brûlée pecorino was a good idea but poorly executed as the cheese was cold and not very melted.

For the pastas, there was no sauce, just meat placed on top of pasta with no attempt to make a cohesive dish. I simply cannot believe these noodles are handmade, they truly are below any pasta I’ve had elsewhere across Florence. The chew of the bite was not al dente, the pasta itself was underseasoned. It honestly tasted like a pre made frozen pasta dinner you could buy at a grocery store.

Apart from the food itself even the ambiance turned us away. The tables were so close to each other and the restaurant felt very cramped. The line outside the restaurant was upset we cut them to talk to the staff to seat us for our assigned reservation.

Despite the many reviews online praising this restaurant, I highly discourage anyone from attending this place. I only hope the non pasta dishes are better.
