Atmosphere 5/5:
It’s a very classy yet whimsical environment. Most importantly, I was slightly surprised by how clean everything is (especially since it appears to be a rather old pub)!
Food 5/5:
The haggis bites and steak & ale pie I had were amazing. The apple pie with custard was also nice. They’re fairly-priced too—I had a three-course meal for only £27.85.
Service 4.5/5:
This has been my experience with two pubs already, so it might just be a pub food thing, but the foods came out rather slowly.
The young bartender I met initially (which took my order and told me to grab a seat) wasn’t exactly rude but wasn’t friendly either. But the staff members I met afterwards were all very nice and friendly.

This is a review of their afternoon tea
Overall: 3.9/5
Let me start with the positives,
1. Atmosphere (4/5)
1.1 facility & decor (5/5)
Their interior design is gorgeous—I absolutely love their upholstered couches/seats, those were my favorite part. I also love the high-ceiling, mezzanine design and the marble columns, that always makes a room feels grand a spacious. The wood paneling and lights are also beautiful.
1.2 Tableware (3/5)
Thats’s where I have to subtract a star from the atmosphere. For a supposedly fancy place, their tea set was disappointing. The tea cup was an €8 illy cup with its red square logo on it (aren’t they a coffee company?). And the wrong filter was used for the teapot, so that the lid wasn’t properly closed. And the teapot was absolutely sizzling all over when it came up, including the handle, I almost burned myself (wish the waiter could have warned me.) And instead of a proper cloth napkin, we only got a paper napkin (which i used to help me pour my tea.)
Also, their glass cup looked cloudy (I’m sure it was just old with stains and not dirty—still, one would expect better from a place that looks like this. See the picture attached.)
The faucet at the bathroom was also unfortunately one of those that tries to boil you alive and whose temperature can’t be changed. I do appreciate the proper hand towels though.
1.3 Music I hope the soundtrack could have been more “posh”, to match the decor, or at least better than what they played.
2. Service (3.7)
Friendly. And my food and tea came very quick. They did kind of seem to forget about me after the beginning though. I’m waiting for someone to come by so I can ask for my bill as I’m writing this. (Update: I guess they thought I already paid a deposit when I booked my afternoon tea. However, I actually just walked in. Maybe that’s why no one came to give me my bill.)
(Incidentally, while this is not very food-critic of me, their male staff members were all so hot for no reason.)
Food (3.8/5)
The €32.95* we paid we more for the ambiance, I suppose. It was pretty standard afternoon tea stuff: finger sandwiches, scones, and sweet and savory stuff. I did, however, very much enjoyed their mushroom tart (at least that’s what I think it was.) The sweet treats were not bad but not remarkable as well. The scones weren’t obviously warm/freshly baked when they came out. While they did rise nicely and is crunchy/crumbly on the outside, the inside felt a little too dense.
*for some reason, I thought the afternoon tea was €60 while I was waiting for my bill, which made my review a little more critical. Turned out it was half the price, which makes it all very reasonable. It’s not a bad deal to enjoy a fancy environment like this with a this price tag.

Food 4.5/5
(The app rating system doesn’t allow half stars)
They have many unique and delicious-sounding dishes, and the presentation of my plates were very nice.
I ordered a potato pie, which looked beautiful. However, it tasted rather bland. The green (spinach?) sauce tasted like nothing, even though it was very visually pleasing.
I also got a pork pie, which was much more flavorful. It comes with a little sauce boat of gravy, which I loved.
For dessert I got the coffee tart, which our waiter said is very popular. It was very pretty and tasted decent too, but it had too many nuts and too little tart for my taste. The outer chocolate shell was also rather hard (perhaps partly due to the added protection from the nuts underneath), so I had to smash it open with my spoon.
Service 5/5
The waiter was very nice and attentive, and the staff all dressed very poshly. However, when we went there at around 1pm, there seems to be only one waiter working, so he was stretched out a bit thin and wouldn’t come around often.
All of the food came surprisingly quickly, even the pies that were supposed to take 30mins to prepare according to the menu.
Also, my friend asked if he could get some bacon with his fish and chips, and they granted that. And the bacon was very nice too. That was very nice of them. Thanks!
Ambiance 5/5
Very beautiful room. Love the marble columns and the red leather benches and the unique lamps. The choice of background music was also excellent. Everything was clean and pretty. My only complaint would be that the tables were a little close to each other, so it was difficult to get out of my seat.

Food 5/5
To start with, the bread (baguette) was amazing. I don’t remember the being so impressed by plain bread in a while (but then, that might be because I’m American). Delicately crispy on the outside and soft and almost sweet on the inside.
Every course since then was excellent as well. The parmesan chicken starter was so good (and very popular too—many tables besides mine also ordered it).
The lamb pithivier main was also very good. Very unique, too.
All the dishes were also of very generous portions.
Service 4.8/5
Very friendly staff. Came to take my order at a good time—including promptly noticing that I’ve finished my main course and asking if I want any dessert. The total time spent there was ~1h35m. It took about 20 mins for my starter to come, but I had the delicious bread to keep me company, and the fried chicken was worth the wait.
Atmosphere 4.6/5
Clean and comfortable. I loved the interior design.

Food 5/5
Every dish I had there (soup, lobster thermidor, pavlova) were wonderfully made.
However, as good as the lobster was, I don’t think it merited £45—it wasn’t even a particularly large lobster.
Service 3.5/5
The staff was very friendly and professional. The bartender (I was sitting at the bar) gave me pretty helpful advice when I asked for recommended mains.
My starter came very fast. However, my lobster took 20+ to arrive (after my starter was cleared away), which was rather longer than I’d like.
During the wait, I also requested to add on a side of spinach along with my main, but that got forgotten.
Ambiance 4/5
It was a chic and clean place. A little cramped for my liking. The bathroom looked very clean but smelled bad (of some strong cleaning product?)
