Bawarchi Restaurant
2023 Oct 07
It's a two-storey building in the corner of a busy market area of Bapu Bazar, but it's absolutely worth every single penny you spend (it's not expensive, BTW) and clearly, it's a must try restaurant in Udaipur.

Location
At one end of the Bapu Bazaar street, it's at a walking distance if you are shopping in the vicinity. Rickshaws and cabs are easily available.

Vibe
A mix of family crowd and friends. The restaurant is extremely popular for its thalis and its food, in general. So, don't be surprised to find queues on weekend evenings and during lunch hours. It's plainly designed and very spacious.

Food
It's excellent!! There is literally no other word that can do justice to the food. Their gravies are flavorful, the quantity is fantastic, and it's the kind of food that will make you keep coming again and again.
Their ground level restaurant is for à-la-carte diners while the first floor is reserved for thali-eating diners.
For à-la-carte diners, feel free to order any gravy along with naans or parathas and you will not be disappointed. Do not forget to order their pineapple custard and gulab jamuns at the end.
For thali diners, make sure you try the Rajasthani local dal-batti-churma (Google how to eat it properly). They have four sabzis, three daals, rice, three types of bread, farsan, sweet, fryums, and buttermilk. It's a complete meal that will leave you satiated for hours.

Pricing
Fairly decent for the amazing food they serve. A family of four can have a good lunch below 500. A thali costs 250 INR, as of October 2023.

Parking
Parking is available for diners.
Shreeji Fast Food

The perfect late night food joint. You can literally walk in here at 3 AM post a drinking sesh and gobble down fantastic food.
Mind you, post 11 PM, there is no such thing as an ambiance apart from a couple of tables and chairs, but the food is fantastic.
Do try the Aloo Paratha, Cheese Dosa, Pav Bhaji and Tava Pulao.

We happened to visit this place during the Christmas and New Year period and it literally became the highlight of the entire trip!

Distance:
It's at a stone's throw distance from the Old Town and a 10-15 mins walk from Ali-Nino statue. Prefer walking over choosing a cab as the entire quarter is spectacular with beautiful architecture.

Nearby:
There are several tourist places around - monuments, churches, and statues. This place should definitely be on your must-visit list during the Christmas period as there is a Christmas market, a concert arena, a spectacularly lit Christmas tree, well-lit area, and carol-singing cheerful crowd. One edge of the square also has a casino. Do not miss out on the Astronomical Clock in one corner of the square.

Restaurants:
There is a KFC and a McDonald's on the square. Since it is very close to the Old Town, you will find an array of restaurants, bars, pizza joints, chacha joints - all at a distance of 2 mins walking from the square.
Manchester Airport

A mix of an experience - the airport station is walking distance from the airport itself. The station is supremely clean, although the staff might be a little too rude to tourists.

It might take a new person sometime to understand where to reach and how to reach, but the Mancunian folks are very helpful.
