Für Ausländer eine Katastrophe. Es gibt keine Displays oder Hinweise beim Transfer.

Ich habe selten so gefroren.. und das in einen Airport. Leider waren im Gebäude nur 15 (auf dem Klo teilweise 16) Grad Celsius, sodass alle gefroren haben. Ich hatte keine dicke Jacke, die ich anziehen konnte und musste mir wie viele andere ein Örtchen in einem Café/Restaurant nehmen und dort bei knapp 18 Grad Celsius ein heißes Getränk trinken. Auch das Wifi hat die ganze Zeit über nicht funktioniert, selbst mit der Registrierung per Reisepass ging leider gar nichts. Also leider 4 Stunden Transferzeit, die durch Frieren und mangelndes Internet leider sehr langwierig und ungemütlich war. Der Flughafen ist sonst sehr ruhig (gefühlt wenig los) und die Toiletten sind ok.

Unfassbar kalt , keine Heizung im Winter.
Kaum Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.
Schlechtes wifi. Ohne VPN kann man sich das sparen.
Die Sitze sind aus Minderwertigen materialen.

Es gibt genügend Smokingareas und das Personal ist nett und freundlich. Heißes Wasser ist kostenfrei.

In Zukunft vermeide ich den Flughafen.
Keine Empfehlung leider.

Transitting here with Xiamen Airlines, though the airline themselves were amazing, the airport itself is horrible. I would pay an extra fee to go on another airline just to not transit here. There is barely any restaurants open, the airport is tiny, and most of the outlets weren't working.

If youre thinking to fly with xiamen airlines and have transit here, i would recommend not to. Better to pay an extra fee to fly with a better airline with efficient transit system.

The airport is super small, its not on international level. You have to go through immigration again, have to wait in line for another check in. And the worst part is they wont let you in the check in area immediately, so you have to find someplace to sit (not so much seats available, my old mom has to sit on the floor after 1 hour of queueing in immigration, what a waste of time and energy) for the remaining time of your transit time. None of the staff speak english, there’s nothing to shop or to eat inside the boarding area. The security staff are also unfriendly, so does the immigration staff. Basically i would say its better to fly with another airlines that doesn’t ask you to go through immigration during transit. What a waste of time

Oh and there’s no wifi.

I dont think this is a huge airport so nothing much here. The officers are nice and explains everything. Minimal english as you may say. Easy for us malaysian even though i speak chinese. And fingerprint immigration shows graphic so easy to understand. For Xiamen Airline. You can head on to the transfer desk. International flight exit. Turn right. Give you passport and they will be able to check. Self pay for taxi at gate 8 or 9. Hope this helps. I was lost too haha

Quite happy and relaxed after all the worrying blabla on the internet. Allow me to explain.
Go:
A pretty long walk, down through a health check counter and to the immigration . Fill in a form , stood 1/2 hr in line and got a free visa. Checked in luggage was sent to end destination. Walk through customs and go downstairs to the Xiamen transit lounge. Here there is almost nothing but good seats. Time for boarding : go upstairs again and line up “ without luggage”, get your new boarding pass and go through security and immigration. 5-10 m. After that not so many possibilities for food and drinks but OK. Oh yes: clean toilets!
Return: again to immigration, fill in the form, 5 minutes in line, stamp. Pick up luggage, through customs and go downstairs to the Xiamen transit counter. You get a free voucher for hotel . Walk outside and stand in line for a meter taxi. Take care you have Chinese cash ( from ATM?) . Show the voucher to the driver. Enjoy the swift ride through clean Xiamen. Cost 2-3€. At hotel swift check inn. Very nice room ( yes: 1 person!) with free breakfast buffet. Hotel staff calls a meter taxi. 10 m back to the airport. Luggage check at customs, VERY quick check inn and luggage drop. Get your boarding pass, through security and immigration. Boarding area is a bit dull.
Analyzing all negative comments show that these travellers had no knowledge about the free visa, lounge, transit desk downstairs ( with free hotel) and free acces into China!
1 star down? Staff speaks/ understands very little English. But they do their best with a translator on their private cell phones. Maybe we should learn some Mandarin instead off complaining?

1: Checkin area is a mess. The reason I noticed is that it is caused by baggage checkin. The passengers have to wait for their baggages to clean the security scan. If they find any suspicious items, the passengers are asked to go behind the machine to open the baggages and remove the items and then scan again. People simply ignore the waiting behind the yellow line and one meter apart note on the ground.
2: Airport is too crowded. They are not all passengers though. The airport hired too many staffs and they are just doing nothing there. It looks like that Xiamen lacks career opportunities there. For example, there are 4 or 5 young girls in a small foreign exchange office and there are no customers there.
3: It is too noisy. The airport keeps constantly broadcasting messages to remind passengers the boarding time and gate. It is not necessary to broadcast over the whole airport given the current technology.
4: The transfer lounge is crowded too. I had an eight hours layover at the airport and they recommended me to rest there. It was almost full and I didn’t feel enough fresh air inside the lounge and just left.

Situated at Xiamen area of China. Good looking. Immigration officers are helpful. No luggage damage. Timely followed all procedure to complete paper work.

Karte vom Geldautomaten geschluckt, weil Menüführung nur auch chinesisch. Sehe diese wahrscheinlich nie wieder. Polizei direkt neben an war aber hilfreich. Überall wird nur Cash oder WeChat-Zahlung akzeptiert, keiner spricht / versteht Englisch - schlecht an einem großen internationalen Flughafen. Starbucks war tatsächlich die einzige Ausnahme und meine Rettung, um nicht zu verhungern.
Nichtsdestotrotz ist der Flughafen optisch schön und halbwegs sauber, auch wenn die Toiletten teilweise dreckig waren und dort immer wieder geraucht wurde.

Kann nicht viel zum Flughafen sagen, da ich wegen einer Verspätung des vorhergehenden Fluges eigentlich nur durch den Flughafen gerannt bin...

Es ist ein sehr moderner grosser Flughafen. Der Flughafen ist an das U-Bahnnetz der Stadt angeschlossen, mit welcher man schnell in die Stadt fahren kann oder zum Fernbahnhof, wenn die Reise weiter gehen soll. Falls es Probleme gibt, existiert ein Infopoint im Flughafen, wo es auch freies WLAN für Ausländer gibt. Für die Nutzung der Fahrkartenautomaten wird die Pay-Funktion von Wechat oder Alipay sowie eine Internetverbindung benötigt.

Einigermaßen sauberer Flughafen und überwiegend nettes Personal.
Leider ist es in einigen Geschäften nicht möglich mit Kreditkarte zu zahlen (unter anderem Mc Donald's) - was in meinem Fall, bei einem Aufenthalt von 7 Stunden, ziemlich störend ist!

Small airport but with good services. Only for domestic flights.

Sehr unfreundliches Personal. Man fühlt sich hier wie ein Verbrecher!!!
Hatte an diesem Flughafen ein wirklich schreckliches Erlebnis. Flug von Bangkok nach Frankfurt gebucht, mit Zwischenstopp hier in Guangzhou. Zu der ersten Kontrolle gekommen wurden wir aufgefordert ein Formular auszufüllen. Haben dies getan. Dann hat man uns eine Nummer zugeordnet für den Stempel in den pass um Weiterfliegen zu können. Wir warteten ca. Eine halbe Stunde und bekamen dann die Info, nein ihr dürft nicht weiter fliegen. Unsere Pässe hatte das Personal jedoch immer noch. Wir bekamen die Info, dass wir einen neuen Flug buchen müssen mit direktem Flug nach Europa. Jedenfalls saßen wir dann 5 Stunden am Flughafen fest, da das Personal die Pässe von uns eingezogen hatten und uns immer vertröstete please wait. Großes Lob an die Fluggesellschaft, die sich um einen anderen Flug gekümmert hat und uns aus diesem schrecklichen Flughafen befreit hat.

Had a very horrible experience there. We had booked a flight from Bangkok to Frankfurt with a stop here in Guangzhou. Out off the plane to the first control they directed us to fill out some form for getting a stamp in the passport, for the next flight. After we had filled this out we got a number and waited for the stamp. We waited about an half hour and got the answer of the police or something what was working there no you are not allowed to fly with your booked flight. We asked the staff what should we do, they told us you’ve to book a new flight directly to Europe with no stop again in china. we waited about 5 Hours at this Airport and the Staff had our passports. Luckily we had so much luck with our airline cause they arranged another flight Dir us directly to Europe. If they hadn’t do this for us we would probably stay at this airport until right now.
