Recently renovated historic building in Berlin. It has become an instagram spot.
Excellent, informative displays and explanations. If you do not speak German, be sure to get the headset/translator.
It is an ethnographic museum but not about the city. It is a museum created with artifacts brought from different continents and countries (Aztec, myanmar, Afghanistan etc.) You should spend at least 1-2 hours. Unfortunately, we had to visit it quickly in half an hour. I would like to visit it again.
Eines der interessantesten ethnologischen Museen wohl derzeit. Die neuen Ausstellungen gehen verschiedenen und auch aktuellen Themen nach. Zum Teil wirklich überraschend. Besonders toll ist der Spieleraum mit Büchern, vielen Spielen oder einem Kicker. Vor allem mit Kindern bei schlechtem Wetter eine echte Alternative um Zeit zu verbringen. Die neue Ausstellung ist wohl noch nicht komplett fertig und ich bin gespannt wie es weitergeht! Der Eintritt ist frei, was natürlich ein Pluspunkt ist.
They house a number of free collections which are great. Staff is very friendly.
Klasse! Die Objekte werden sowohl in ihren historischen Kontext gestellt wie auch in ihrer Beziehung zu den aktuellen Betrachtern. Ein sehr sehr wichtiger Beitrag zum Verständnis von Kolonialismus und Rassismus! Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen: Die Kassiererin ist sehr, sehr unfreundlich! Immer!
We visited Afghanistan exhibition
Das Museum finde ich sehr schön gestaltet, logisch aufgebaut, wenn man von oben aus anfängt,, und zieht sich durch die ganze Welt, die Kulturen, deren Kunstwerke und Lebensarten. Ich gehe einmal im Jahr dorthin, und entdecke immer wieder etwas Neues. Die jetzige Sonderausstellung 'Afghanistan' setzt die Beziehungen zu diesem Land fort, und nimmt einen mit, in dieses Land, wenn man auch einige Artefakte aus vorherigen Ausstellungen kennt, und sie ähnlich aufgebaut ist, so ist sie doch sehr interessant für Neubesucher, die sich diesem Thema zuwenden wollen. Mir gefällt es dort sehr, auch das Café und der kleine Souvenirladen gegenüber der Information und Kasse des Museums. Für die Garderobe gibt es Münzspinde, der Eintritt ist 4 Euro für die Dauerausstellung, und nun kommt der Clou: für die Sonderausstellung kann man einen eigenen Preis festlegen, womit man gleich eine Spende gibt. Finde ich klasse.
Ein spannender Nachmittag im Grassimuseum Leipzig mit meinem Sohn. Die Ausstellung hat uns schlichtweg begeistert – wir waren beide fasziniert von den Exponaten und der Vielfalt der Sammlungen. Schon jetzt freuen wir uns darauf, beim nächsten Besuch noch tiefer in die Welt der Kunst und Kultur einzutauchen. Besonders gespannt sind wir auf die Instrumentenausstellung, von der wir nur Gutes gehört haben. Ein absolut empfehlenswertes Erlebnis für die ganze Familie. 👍
Ich bin seit Jahren regelmäßig im Völkerkunde Museum zu Besuch und finde die Veränderungen sehr beeindruckend. Das Museum geht mit der Zeit und spricht aktuelle Themenfelder an. Es ist schön zu sehen, dass das Museum für die neuen Bereiche Kooperationspartner*innen hat und somit mehr Perspektiven deutlich werden. Zudem ist das Museum seit Januar kostenlos.
Besonders schätze ich das umfangreiche Programm für Familien. Außerdem gefällt mir der neue Bonvenom Raum sehr. Ein Ort an dem man sich nur wohlfühlen kann. Besonders die freundlichen Mitarbeitenden (egal ob pädagogische oder Mitarbeitende der Sicherheitsfirma) tragen zu diesen Gefühl bei. Ich komme gern wieder! ✌️🍸

Das Museum ist sei 01.01.24 kostenlos. Trotzdem benötigt man ZWINGEND eine Eintrittskarte. Dies steht leider nur nirgendwo. Das gelangweilte Personal im Kassenbereich macht darauf auch nicht aufmerksam. Mann kann erstmal überall im Gebäude hinlaufen. Wenn man dann die 2 Etagen nach oben gelaufen ist, wird man sehr unfreundlich darauf hingewiesen, dass das so nicht geht und man eine Karte braucht. Wieder unten an der Kasse wird man vom.dortigen Personal angepampt, dass es ja klar ist, daß man ein Ticket braucht - auch wenn es nirgendwo steht. Hat den Besuch leider sehr negativ beeinflusst.
Das Museum selbst ist gewöhnungsbedürftig. Wir haben es schöner in Erinnerung gehabt.

Ugliest and waste wasteful building in Berlin. Visiting this ugly abomination makes my stomach ache. It doesn’t know what it wants to be. Its insides appear to be random, not knowing what to do with the space. It’s all she takes appears to be this tasteful and at best unfinished.
Berlin ist Full of exiting things. It was actually an old school car show. A lot of fun and Beautiful Souls around.
Musée à 1€ le dimanche, je vous conseille d'y aller tôt le dimanche car dès 11h il faut faire la queue pour entrer.

The exhibition was a deception. Even when the content is interesting I believe they shouldn't charge to get into this museum that much.

I can express the words for this place. Not because of its architecture, but because of all the things you will learn and find here. First of all, this place has 3 floors of museums.
The second floor has the Forum Café, which is a delight for everyone liking sweets. And the Berlin Global Exposition, for students it's free.
On the third floor you will find the African Museum and the Oceania Museum. On the fourth floor you will find the Asian Museum. In the middle of each museum there are others like American, Prehistoric Museum, etc.
On the top floor is the terrace/observatory, also a restaurant. I haven't tried the restaurant yet, so i am not able to say if it's good or not. One more thing, almost everything here is free of charge to everyone, and that things that charge, students have a discount.

Sadly the palace is not rebuilt according to the original architecture
Très beau musées sur l'Asie et l'Afrique. La partie sur la Birmanie est magnifique et très bien organisée avec un thème de couleur différent sur chaque pièces ou encore des reconstitutions ce qui nous dépayse complètement.
What a snooze fest other than trying to figure out the jacked up layout; it’s not set up well at all. Maybe it’s just not my forte but I didn’t like it at all and found it was a waste of euro. I wish I could go back and not pay for not only the ‘special’ exhibit but also the regular one. They must know their exhibits aren’t that good because they weren’t as attentively monitoring guests as with the other museums I visited. As a matter of fact they even said that some of their stuff is recreations again another reason the others were better. It takes away the history part of it. Take the mock-up they made below to show the only four jewels they had.

In der Gebäude befinden sich verschiedene Museen. Museum für Völkerkunde befindet sich auch auf zwei Etagen, die einzeln zu betreten sind. Es war für mich etwas verwirrend, wir haben trotzdem richtige Eingänge gefunden.
Das Museum fand ich sehr interessant. Viele tolle Exponate, die verschiedene Weltkulturen umfassen.

Best place when it us rainy. I visit it with my 8 and 5 years old grand-child. The 8 years old boy loves the audio guide. A great thing. Attention he or she will that u listen whole day 🤟🏾👍🏾😎😋 the little 5 year ild girls loves the Museum too. The People are very friendly. And they participate at the Arabic Film Festival 👍🏾 congrats.
Nice! Be sure to visit it. Getting to know different cultures, especially old cultures, can be very interesting and educational for all age groups!
A amazing place, with rich exhibitions and very welcome environment
I really expected so much more from this museum. It only focuses on a few tribes. There is some information to retain, but not a lot. There are only a few exhibits on 2 floors (4 rooms per floor, if I remember correctly). I wouldn’t recommend paying to see it. If you have Frankfurt City Card or Museums Ufer ticket then you can pay a visit.

In diesem Museum kann man den ganzen Tag verbringen, wenn man das auch alles verarbeiten kann. Eine spannende Zeitreise beginnend mit dem antiken Ägypten bis in die Gegenwart zeigt die gestalterische Vielfalt im jeweiligen gesellschaftlichen Kontext. Auch dem Zeitabschnitt vom Jugendstil bis in die Gegenwart wird ausreichend gewürdigt. Eine gelungene Ausstellung.
Museum of World Cultures did not meet my expectations. A small cramped building. Each room had an exhibit. Either stories about the past or problems on immigration seem to be addressed. and I did not find their approach to them sincere.
Today. They had an Aztec exilhibition. 12€ per person. It was well set out and very informative. While it is a small museum, the display was well organised. It was a pity it was not pram or wheelchair friendly. However the people there were very helpful.
Nous sommes venus voir une exposition temporaire sur le Japon. Les objets présentés étaient vraiment magnifiques. Malheureusement, toutes les explications sont en allemand... Ne parlant pas cette langue nous avons pus seulement admirés sans toujours comprendre ce que nous avions devant les yeux ! C'est vraiment dommage, des explications en anglais me semblent indispensables dans un musée moderne...
Découverte de l'Orient, des îles, de l'Asie, de l'Afrique et des Amériques... 1€ le dimanche. Ce n'est pas un musée immense mais il est très intéressant !
Exposition contenant très peu d'explications, aucune problématique et ne s'intéressant pas aux histoires respectives des peuples. Les cérémonies des religions autres que celles des Chrétiens sont qualifiées de "rites"...
This museum has no permanent but only changing exhibitions. So don’t expect a classic ethnological museum here. 🙅🏾♀️

Superbe musée des 5 continents sur la culture, l art et traditions. Très bien aménagé, bien fourni en objet et oeuvre de ces parties du monde. L'exposition générale se trouve sur 2 niveaux. L'exposition temporaire est sur le niveau 1 au fond à gauche. En ce moment c'est le travail de Koji Shibazaki qui est exposé. Son travail sur papier japonais est à découvrir absolument. Magnifique, surtout ces lampes de papier japonais.
Musée intéressant, dommage qu'on ne comprenne pas forcément tout car il y a énormément de descriptions écrites uniquement en allemand.
To be honest, I wasn' expecting it to be so interesting. It really surprised me. It had an exhibition, where two artists occupied with themes such as slavery and division of people due to borders. Very nice video performances, I was really touched!
The exhibit was about textiles when we visited the museum. I work in a portion of North America where textiles are rarely preserved in the archaeological record. Hence my interest about which items from textile manufacture might actually be found on archaeological sites, e.g., spindle whorls (various sizes and shapes), bone pins, and bone shuttles (or textile swords). The exhibit includes these items. In addition there were a series of ca. 5-10 minute ethnographic films from the 1960s showing various aspects of basic textile production (cotton spinning, cord making, coconut fibers, etc.) and decoration in SE Asia, Micronesia, and South America. We enjoyed the films too.
