Airport is designed very badly. Why is there so much unused space at the entrance ?? There are people laying on the ground when one floor down there is a huge room with nothing it in but a few seats, outside there is a HUGE unused concrete area with nothing. Before security you have only choice to stay in Starbucks or Burger king or some small bistro and cafe to wait for your check in. Everything overpriced of course. Wifi doesn’t reach everywhere.
Nowhere to charge your phone, no water fountains, nowhere to sit. And if you want to take a coach to another city prepare to be even more upset because the buses stop at a huge parking lot like 200m from the airport with nothing on it, no seats or roof so you have two options, wait at the airport floor or on the concrete parking lot in cold/hot :) there is absolutely no information or screens about where your booked bus will stop and no workers who could help you navigate, no toilets. Running from one ‘boarding deck’ to another with 20kg luggage withouth any ramp (see the picture) and asking each bus if theyre what youre looking for, it is just awesome. And it wasnt just us, other people were confused too. Possibly the worst airport Iv been to and I applaud to the architects/designers. The only thing I can pinpoint is the fact that at security you can empty your bottles into a liquid waist container instead of all dumping it full or having to chug it up.
The small airport and there are limited of restaurants to service. The duty free shop is small too and not many items for selection. Information counter is not helpful you will get only answers yes’ or ‘no’ don’t expect for more details or recommendations. Talking about immigration process is very long que and process is very slow, this affects the delay of flights. For the arrival passengers, you will need to spare time for taxi service which is a long que and don’t recommend for the driver who comes to propose you for service.
Easily accessible by trains and buses from Berlin city. Very good airport with all facilities, specially Internet facility. The best thing is that they have the airport app with map inside so you never get lost. You can find toilets, vending machines, baggage areas, exits, check ins and gates on the app. Staff is helpful and they speak English aswell. The bus dropped all passengers to the plane because it was parked bit away from the gates.
The new airport, combined the previous two into one. Beautifully decorated, in classic German austere style. Connected to the city by train and bus. In some places, the markings are a little unclear. It has always been and will be nice to return to Berlin - the city that healed me.
With 10 years of delay, this airport already feels old and outdated even if it's new; it's far from efficient, and does not make people feel welcome.

Pros:
- connection to the city via bus is easy
- no armrests on seats so you could stretch out if you find enough space

Cons:
- no electricity outlets at gates or pretty much anywhere (the only "charging hub" with a few cables close to gate 32 is broken)
- rude security personnel, ordering people to undress to t-shirt if they wear one underneath a sweatshirt (even if that's their underwear) and leggins if they wear any underneath trousers
- confusing signage at terminal 1, I can easily see people accidentally going to exit instead of gates (can't speak for T2), and bathrooms hard to find

If that's supposed to be the first image of people coming to Germany, I'm afraid it is a really poor representation.
