It wasn't busy so I was able to get great pictures. I visited twice and each day someone was singing under the arc. Lots of people around on the benches enjoying the view and people getting pictures infront of it. Lots of space for everyone to take photos

It is a gorgeous monument to look at with a very nice park close by.

For any tourists, be aware of any scammers and thieves around the area, however, do not be too worried as I had no issues with the area. The people who live there are polite and everyone is doing their own thing - just enjoy your time here.
During the Arab occupation, it was used as a quarry for materials, when they reformed the Alcazaba , at the foot of which it is located.

In it, three zones are perfectly distinguished : the living room, with a radius of 31 meters, with a semicircular floor plan. The orchestra, between the stands and the stage, where the important people of the city were. And the foreground or the wooden parquet.
Beautiful site, impressive and imposing with a fascinating history. Very reasonable entrance fee ( free on Sunday afternoon, check the website for details )

Great place. Monument itself is beautiful, but the area itself is more visit-worthy than the monument. A park that leads to another beautiful park and zoo.
Superschöne Stadt und perfekt für einen Tagesausflug.
Amazing experience ! Little coldly in spring days, but perfect impression about Spanish tradition: corridas. Not so crowdy. Anyway a must seen building in Madrid. Except very sensitive people I recommend to every Spain visitor.
Gorgeous basilica, and definitely worth the visit. They have recently started charging entrance fees (10euros with tower/roof access), which is not stated online. Unfortunately there's no control at the tower so people without roof tickets were just going up too, and hadn't been told the up/down system so were trying to come down the wrong stairs which caused problems.
A great place, usually tematic exhibitions are held here about paintings. It is free to enter, but they accept donatitons. The seaside around it is beautyful and it is a great viewpoint.
The queue took about an hour. They let only four people in at one time. There is no shelter and can sit only at the kerb of the pool, so it can be painful in the sun. Inside if you'd like a souvenir, you need cash, and only from a certain time. The entry is free, though, which is cool. Inside it will take you around 15 minutes and you'll see some carvings on the walls, Egyptian style. There is also an upstairs with a couple more of the "drawings."
Nestled in the heart of Madrid, the Ventas arena stands as a timeless testament to the rich tradition of bullfighting. Stepping into Las Ventas is like stepping back in time, where the echoes of centuries past reverberate through its grand arches and stone corridors. The arena with it’s iconic circular design abd imposing facade exudes an air of majestic grandeur captivating all who enter.
No queue, free to entry. There is a little museum before entering the theatre that elxplains a little bit of its history. Relatively fast visit.
You get to witness history for free!

There is a small museum next to the theatre itself, wich contains interesting a exposition.

Really great place! I liked it a lot more than the Alcazaba!

I recommend paying it a visit!
You have to visit this church when you're in Barcelona! Not only is it absolutely stunning inside, but the columns are a work of art. The stain glass windows alone are also worth spending the €5 or €10 euros to enter and visit the crypt.

The surrounding area is also amazing to see with little streets full of perfect bars to eat and drink. There is an amazing jewellers on the corner opposite the church entrance, where you can find incredible and one of a kind pieces for a very reasonable price!
Very beautiful, even though some tourists treated it like their own camp. Still, rating the beautiful site and the monument.

It a really good place to go in the evening to view the temple and then go to the park the temple is surrounded by and viewing the sun going down. You will have nice view all over Madrid and it’s very beautiful. You can sit on the grass and enjoy the sunset while eating something. There might be a lot of people but the park is very big so you should get a place to enjoy the sunset even on the weekend.
It’s a really nice church to see. We paid for entrance to upper terraces and the church itself 10 euros, but in think it was worth it! It’s rather cool inside and the church has many beautiful stained glass pictures. If I am not mistaken, only 4 are authentic, the rest were restored. Please, note that it takes some time to go up, about 150 steps, the staircase is narrow, too. You can stop in 2 places on the top to take pictures. You go up on one side and go down on the other side. All in all we had pretty pleasant impressions from the visit.
Good to catch some sun and a breather for free. Comfortable stone seating area to read, chat or just look at the teatro history. It is the perfect weather now in the spring.
Christoforo Colombo monument. One of many magnificent monuments in the city.

Ancient temple situated in the centre of the city. The structure of the temple is very ancient and you can also get inside to see the temple with ancient stones and engravings. It is also a very nice spot for viewing the sunset.

The waiting time is a bit long because they only a limited number of people at a single time. It is free to enter and no need to buy tickets

It's an ancient ruin from Egypt which was gifted to Spain. Entry is free of cost but it's a long queue. Usually takes up to 2hours of wait and the tour inside is roughly 30minutes. We wondered whether it was worth the wait and it TOTALLY was!
Also try to go there close to sunset, so beautiful 😍

Visiting the Arc de Triomf in Barcelona was an unforgettable experience that truly deserves a five-star rating. This iconic landmark, with its magnificent red brickwork and intricate sculptures, stands as a proud symbol of the city’s rich cultural and historical heritage.

Walking up to the Arc, I was immediately struck by its grandeur and the detailed reliefs that adorn its surface, each telling a story of triumph and artistic endeavor. The promenade leading to the monument, lined with towering palm trees, created a picturesque pathway that invited both locals and tourists alike to bask in the beauty of this architectural masterpiece.

The Arc de Triomf is not just a visual spectacle; it’s a gateway to the vibrant Parc de la Ciutadella, making it the perfect starting point for a day of exploration in one of Barcelona’s most beloved green spaces. The area surrounding the Arc is buzzing with energy, often filled with street performers, musicians, and vendors that add to the lively atmosphere.

What sets the Arc de Triomf apart is its significance as a monument of peace and as a testament to Barcelona’s spirit of innovation and progress, initially built as the main access gate for the 1888 Barcelona World Fair. It serves as a reminder of the city’s forward-thinking attitude and its welcoming nature.

The Arc de Triomf is more than just an architectural feat; it’s a cultural landmark that offers a unique glimpse into the soul of Barcelona. Whether you’re capturing its beauty through the lens of a camera or simply enjoying a leisurely stroll along its promenade, the Arc de Triomf is a must-visit destination that encapsulates the charm and dynamism of this incredible city.

In summary, the Arc de Triomf is not only a feast for the eyes but also a symbol of Barcelona’s enduring allure. Its captivating architecture and historical significance make it an essential part of any visit to the city. A true five-star experience!
Large and amazing bullring. Unfortunately, I didn't get to watch a real and live bullfight, as it is only on Sunday and it only starts in march-april. But it is worth it to visit as you can take a lot of beautiful photos at any angle. The orange coloured structure, the blue blue sky and white clouds makes a great spot for photos.
Sehr beeindruckend wie früher solche Dimensionen erbaut wurden.

This is an interesting place to visit if your have time in Madrid. It is free admission but the wait time is more than one hour as they only allow 10-15 people inside at a time, and they can stay there up to 30 minutes. We waited close to two hours. Once inside most of the display description is in Spanish. We were able to understand most of it, but this might not be worthwhile for young children as they might not understand.
Gorgeous basilica! The place was lovely. We got the full tickets, which included rooftop and crypt. Rooftop was lovely, crypt was…nothing but a weird space. Still, highly recommend stopping in.
It is not free as it's stated so be prepared for paying to enter it. Maybe there are times when they don't charge for entering it but not during week days.
Nice old church. Very quiet and peaceful. I didn't climb on the rooftop so I can't comment on the views from there.
Castillo de San Felipe in Puerto de la Cruz

The Castillo de San Felipe is one of those places where you can still feel the historic battles fought in defense of the islands and which carries the echo of a more violent and uncertain time.

The Castillo de San Felipe is located about one kilometer from the city center of Puerto de la Cruz and right next to the leisure facilities of Playa Jardín.

The Castillo de San Felipe had a defensive mission to ward off pirate attacks and was also used as a base station.

Although this was the purpose for which it was built, over time it has found many uses, for example it was for a time a hospital, a warehouse, a shooting club and even a restaurant.

In recent years it has even been used for concerts and exhibitions.

It can be said that the Castillo de San Felipe has been kept in good condition thanks to the remodeling and innovations that are carried out on a regular basis. It currently serves as a cultural space.

The Castillo de San Felipe was declared a Cultural Asset and Artistic Historical Monument in 1949 and is part of the Historical Heritage of Spain.
Lovely historical site with great views

Quite large and super busy. We came across this area as we were walking around town. It is absolutely gorgeous and impressive.

A bike group came through shortly after we arrived, with police escort. I don't know if it was a charity ride? Also nearby the arch are people selling wares on sheets. They quickly picked up all for corners and scrambled away when the police came. Further down were many entertainers of music, large bubbles, "quiet" zumba (headphones like the quiet raves). The entire area was a great place to gather and enjoy some time at.
Our visit to the Basílica de Santa Maria del Mar during the day, which required an entrance fee, was a mesmerizing journey into Gothic architecture. This masterpiece boasts a nice interior adorned with elaborate arches and stained glass windows, creating a symphony of colors that bathes the sanctuary in beauty. Exploring the cathedral is an enriching experience, and we found two ticket options available: one for access to the cathedral only and another that allowed us to ascend to the rooftop. Opting for the latter not only granted us access to the entire site but also rewarded us with stunning views from the top. A must-visit in Barcelona for both architectural enthusiasts and those seeking panoramic perspectives.
An absolutely immaculate Catholic Church located in Barcelona’s El Born area. This gothic basilica is stunning with the amazing architecture. The stories these walls could tell!! I paid €5 to tour interior. On Sunday night, I was able to go in for free. A true masterpiece worth visiting!!
I was there for a school project on the history of bullfighting in Spain, trying to understand how it started and its meaning in the culture. The audio guide explains a little about the arena.

The museum at the back entrance is free and photos are not allowed inside, you can see some sculptures and clothes of the ancient bullfighters, also the heads of some bulls that survived. If you like Goya, they have a room with some of his paintings.
Nicely presented the part of history. Nothing major but worth to see during the walk
This is a tiny theatre, but very well kept. Its restored and there is still some minor excavations now and then. The amphitheatre is quite underwhelming if you expect a Colusseum, so adjust your expectations. Free to enter and a complete walkthrough will take 10 minutes. Advicable to take this together with the Alcazaba castle. Last entrance is 17:15.
The history of the theater dates back to the 1st century before and the times of Emperor Augustus. It was used until the 3rd century AD and when the Moors came, it was regularly dismantled and used to build the Alcazaba fortless. So many centuries and we can still step on the stones and admire what remains. Still fascinating.
Sehr schön muss man einfach mal besuchen wenn man in Madrid ist.

Definitely must visit, besides the actual Arc, there is also a lot of buskers in the area. Makes for a quite an entertaining lot. Just be careful as with any tourist areas, there is always the potential for pickpockets and the like. There are also quite a few homeless people hanging around the area so try and stead out of their way.

WORTH A VISIT!
I don't agree on the idea of bullfighting in general, but I visited here to try and understand the Spanish culture and tradition of it all. I took an audio guided tour and it was fascinating.

You get to see why this is the most important bullfighting arena in the world and the art and history behind it.
Even if you take pictures from the outside, it's an impressive building.

Please note: do not join the long line for tickets if you're only going for a tour - just go directly to the entrance with the purple signs and they let you in.

We stumbled across this magnificent monument and whole area. There was lots to see and admire, with architecture and fine buildings all around.

The entertainment from buskers and performers was mostly welcomed and enjoyed, both at the Arco and around the whole area.

I would recommend a visit to this area to take in the atmosphere of Barcelona.
Sehr beeindruckend !! Das ist Baukunst vom Feinsten !! Absolut sehenswert !
It’s the end of November and most of it was covered due to restoration. Also you can’t go near it.
Beautiful church. If you go during the day, there is a small fee. In the evening between 6 and 8:30 pm ish, it’s free but our itinerary was booked. Once inside, there is a door that goes up to the rooftop. It’s free and is worth checking out. Spectacular views of the city.
Außerordentlich beeindruckendes Bauwerk. Sehr gut erhalten. Nachts beleuchtet fast noch beeindruckender.
Einfach wow...komplettes römisches Aquädukt, welches heute noch funktioniert. Die Steine wurden ohne Mörtel verbaut
Beautiful palace with a self guided tour was just right. Most of it is of course a celebration of the monarchy but the inside stories are interesting.
Buy tickets online to save a long wait.
Leuk plein. Goeie Italiaan tegenover het monument. Groene oase in de binnenstad.
Leuk plekje om gezien te hebben
The said Doors to the City of Madrid don’t seem to be historical wall gates, but triumph arcs. Nonetheless, they’re beautiful monuments, often serving as homage to a historical fact!
This monument is huge. Featured in the center of a busy street, it was wonderful to view, especially upon first sight. Went and had a beer right down the road with Toledo's Gate still in view
Indrukwekkend waar je nog een keer heen wilt
Plein waar het 1 en 2 mei erg druk is
Puerta de Toledo represents one of the nineteen city gates that had the Walls of Philip IV. Annoyingly it sits in the middle of a roundabout, though there's no need to cross it to get up close as it's quite a small roundabout. The gate has features that make it look almost like a Triumphal Arch, such as the many statues that sit atop the roof of the gates.

It's a beautiful structure, but you do have to go out of the way to see it compared to the main sights of the city.
A impressive monument in a tranquil park, right next to Seville university and the old Jewish quarter. A nice reminder of the huge impact Seville had on the forming of the Spanish empire.
Ontzettend gezellig pleintje met authentieke sfeer. Bevind zich in een hippe buurt. Leuke restaurants met kleine terrasjes.
