The Science Museum in London is a fantastic destination for anyone interested in science. With interactive exhibits on everything from space to technology, it’s both fun and educational. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable, making every visit enlightening. Highly recommend for a great day out!
20 minutes of curiosity. Can’t fault it as it’s free entry. Striking views of dinosaur fossils albeit only a few in their full form. There’s an Interesting glowing rock and mineral display upstairs also.

I’d recommend starting here then on to the Barber institute or fine arts, and then to Winterbourn house and gardens for a fantastic half day adventure.
Small area but the kids enjoyed the experience. The water lab area and walk around the green areas was nice too. Cafe is also good and decent sandwiches.
I visit Glasgow science Centre after long time. My daughter class is going to visit , 1 family member have to with her. We are lucky coz weather is warm and sunny. We have gr8 time. We enjoyed it. It is good day out with kids.
It was a great experience visiting the science museum with lots to see. Just book your tickets in advance so you don’t have to wait, otherwise, you can do it just before you enter the museum. The security guards checked our bags before entry. The museum is suitable for all ages with options to pay extra for special events, activities, exhibitions and galleries. We paid to go into the power up gallery for the best games and consoles in the past 50 years.

There are seats around the museum to take a rest, and cafes to eat and drink.

We really enjoyed our day trip to the science museum.
Such a wonderful hidden free delight of Birmingham!

Very proud to show a non-Midlands-native how many things came from our little land. Taken from various midlands collections and digs, genuinely surprised me how much we contributed to learning more about our planet's evolution.

Yes it's a small museum but I liked the layout and signage, as well as the rockwall, a particular visual treat.

Will come back to properly check out the upstairs mineral collection; give yourself an hour and a half as 1hr isn't enough!
Consigliato.

Very cool size museum, with a lot of exhibits. When you first enter. It seems like everything is just about steam engines, but there are far more exhibits in the back. We really like the section about transportation, although the medical section was interesting as well.
This place displays a variety of machines and vehicles from cars to trains to rockets. It is a heaven for car lovers. You also get to know a lot about Britain's space program here. There is a beautiful model on which they project different planetary objects like the moon etc. It looks gorgeous. Entry is free however, you may want to book a slot and arrive early as you may encounter a long queue.
Science Museum is definitely must see in London. Free entrance but book the tickets in advance to avoid any problems ( we didn't so took me good 10 min to booked them online because of poor connection). My kids had a great time. They really enjoyed the space and flight exhibitions. We spent 3-4 hours and it was great time. Highly recommend.
I came yesterday with my three kids (10, 4 and nearly 1) and we had a fantastic time! We spent 4 hours at the centre. The main space is a single large room filled with interactive displays. A bit like a much easier to manage version of the london science museum. I felt that I could let my kids roam around the space without needing to worry about losing them (this obviously depends on your kids and whether they know to stay in the room). This meant that I was also able to enjoy the exhibits. Highlights were the suction tubes that you could put fabric and balls in and watch them whizz around and get unceremoniously shot out at one of the other ends; the spinning table which you could balance various wooden discs on; the electric circuit builders; the microscopes; and the vertical fan that you could test out how well your paper/cup creation flew on. We were in the main room for just over an hour. We played outside with the fantastic water tables for about an hour, a bit before our main session started and then again after we were done in the main room. We walked around the ponds and then did the long red route through the woods (not recommended for flipflops and buggies due to muddy parts and some fairly uneven ground - we managed with high spirits despite both! We bought lunch, snacks and coffee from the cafe (the coffee was a bit strong for me and needed a lot of sugar!). The food was good - sausage rolls, ham sarnies, cinnamon buns. We also borrowed an explorer pack, which had items such as binoculars, magnifying glass, identification wheels for trees and insects etc. I definitely want to come back again!
The best science museum we've beenso far! Plan at least 3-4 hours to visit, though it could be a nice one-day trip too. Different topics, interactive attractions and trails for kids. Could recommend Planetarium movies too.
my wee boy is only 2 n a half so wasn't sure it would be enough to entertain him. I was wrong, he had a fantastic day, we were there from 10am till about 3pm and he could have easily stayed longer. a lot of the stuff he didnt understand but still had fun playing with it and the under 7s section is fantastic.
It's a lovely, interesting place to go and visit. We went for the easter biscuit making which was so beautifully ran and my little boy enjoyed it, and the science pieces(3) we couldn't go up the windmill though as stairs were very steep and I had my 7mo with us. The community garden is also a lovely little place to visit. There is a little park opposite too, but don't expect to be here for more than 2 hours.
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience this is one of the few places you can spend 4-5 hours without getting bored. Outdoor play garden with water features enjoyed by toddler
It's fab here! So many hands on science experiments and games, and a really cool water feature outside and lovely nature reserve. We love this place, the kids are kept busy and happy, and there's a cafe!
Outstanding museum! If you like science related content, this is a must! A lot of interactive exhibits for kids, which is good to keep them entertained. Good food options at the cafe and great gift shop. Strongly recommend a full day visit.
Very cute museum with some interesting hands-on science activities. The mill is well-preserved and the staff are friendly.
Considering the price we were left wanting more and disappointed!
Why is there so many displays and equipment broken? Aren't these checked daily and repaired? 2 toilets flooding and staff weren't bothered.
Come on, we've been to so many better museums.
Lots of bits are not working in the park.
We arrived at 10.30 and left at 3.30 pm. My son is 6 years old and enjoyed the park and planetarium, but for the cost, this wasn't worth it.
Cafe was super busy, expensive, and slow. Highly recommend bringing your own food.
Planetarium was sold out and resulted in single seats only being available if your last in and kids expected to sit alone. Make sure you arrive early.
Grote teleurstelling.
Lovely place to take the kids. The cafe is a bit over priced but otherwise really enjoyed our trip. The kids loved looking at the science stalls and we had a great few hours wandering around the gardens too.
The best experience. We visited here as part of my son's 21st birthday events. 4 "adults". Could've happily spent another 6 hours here! Great fun and very informative
Went today to the science centre with the wife and kiddies. Never been before and have to say we where there for hours! Loads to do. Science show, planetarium, short movies in the IMAX, just packed with fun, entertaining and brain expanding stuff. Have to tip my cap to the science show hosts Richard and Emma too today. Really funny but informative just what you want. Enjoyed it a lot. Only ouch part was the cafe. Felt it was a bit over priced and did dampin the experience for us as we hadn't prepared any lunches before hand. Apart from that though top teir fun for all and do recommend paying for all tickets and extras before hand to save time on the day. Go expand your minds and enjoy as we did 👍😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Beautiful old windmill. You can go up to different floors (very steep stairs!) and see how it all works. There’s a small science museum with interactive bits, highlighting the work of George Green who worked in the windmill and did scientific research there, despite leaving school at the age of 9. Nearby is a fantastic playground making it perfect for a visit with kids. £5 donation requested to keep the windmill and science museum going, which we gladly made.
The museum is really big and has many exhibitions. Children especially will love the place since it has many interactive displays. However, the pricing is incredibly expensive even for concessions. Students get in for free on wednedays (so I HIGHLY recommend this).
Must visit. When with children visit on a different day just for the Kids Wonderland - it is a separate entrance fee on the third (I think) floor. A good three hours are needed there! Worth it with many shows every 30-40 minutes. Also, the below ground level as a lovely interactive learning play area for children under 6- they will love it.
Best to visit on a week day and in off peak season!
If you are a geology buff, this is the place for you. Went on a weekday, no wait time, groups of school children, on and off, not more than 20 at any one time.. Very peaceful ... great collection of rocks and fossils.. One big Allosaur (the cover page), a pterodactyl, few bones of woolly mammoth, a sabretooth skull, ammonites, crocs, plant and animal kingdom evolution tree etc.. etc.. Lots of minerals especially fluorites, magnetites, quartz etc.. Can keep you occupied for a good 3-4 hours..
If you are not a geo buff, you can be in and out in half an hour..
This experience was amazing for the children and myself (the teacher). We thoroughly enjoyed every second. Kate was so knowledgable and understanding of some children who struggled to sit. The projections were fantastic and we had the best time, thank you
The children loved it and were so engaged. The company catered to the needs of the children and created such a unique experience I'm sure they will remember. Amazing communication from the admin team too!
Fantastic explanation of geology and evolution. Lovely building too with an interesting history all if its own. The tree of life exhibit was particularly well done.
Plus dog friendly
We visited from the canal.
Went with the clan on a little trip here. Staff were friendly to help get tickets at the door.
Seems some days they open early so special needs children can have the first hour to themselves.
Heard a lot about it being interactive, there's not all that much to get hands on with. Some of the things are missing in the exhibits. If it's busy you'll be waiting for the kids to finish having a go and it can take a little while to explain what's happening.
There are toilets on every floor which is handy.
All in all we were done in about 2 hours, yet you could spend another 1 hour to really take it in.
Didn't make use of the cafe which is in there also.
As always there a gift shop to go to too.
Enjoy.
Free visit. Such a wonderful display of items and everything is well explained. It's 100% worth the visist and kids would enjoy it very much as well. The shop also has some great items (although a bit expensive).
Amazing museum with a ton of activities for kids. Recommended for all parents to bring their kids to get them inspired and amazed.

All ages will have fun exploring all aspects of science.

Would recommend reserving 2 hours to make a proper tour.
I have been once before a long time ago with the school as an outing and today I came back and explored the whole venue! On three floors, it was totally amazing and I enjoyed myself 🧪

It is worth the money! It was cheaper for me as I paid for a concessionery rate and I was in there for 2 hours looking around! There was so much to see it was awesome and I recommend visiting, it's a really cool day out 🧪

At the end I went out into the science garden which was amazing! It was all really cool, I'll definitely be returning. 😊
Interesting and fun, so many things to try and to discover. 3 floors with different activities for all the ages. I didn't waste a second, excited like a kid i was trying everything. On the final stage you can relax on the Planetarium watching 360° visuals.
Very nice area and the Windmill is interesting to go through (the stairs are frightening)

Issue with a large sign saying to speak to staff before entering the windmill and then staff saying to just go in.

Very nice grounds and people seemed to be enjoying the activity centre.
Half-term, great place to explore and learn with kids. 4 floors exploring areas from 'the past', 'industry', 'our world' and 'the future'. Interactive exhibits, videos, stamp collections, games, and experiments. Plenty to keep kids occupied. Could spend a good few hours here. Certain times of the year they have themed exhibitions. When we went it there was a women in science trail. They also particular activities to see at certain times, such as 'our world from space' family show.

There is food and refreshments you can buy on site, also family washrooms with baby changing facilities.
There’s so much for kids (and adults!) to enjoy here. Our visit including an IMAX documentary lasted about 5 hours. Lots of interactive things to do and would recommend the animal film.
This is a great museum for kids with a little bit for everyone. The range of exhibits is massive - from steam engines and spitfires to dinosaur bones and natural history. Mini-Brum on the top floor is great for young kids too - it is essentially a massive play area with lots of make-believe stuff like a play shop, salon and building site! The science garden is well worth a visit too although you do need to remember to keep an eye on your kids and not get too sucked into the exhibits yourself... The only negatives are: the food in the cafe isn't the best. There are sandwich lunch boxes which are the same as anywhere else but the hot food leaves something to be desired! It is also a little bit 'worn' in places. Some of the exhibits feel like they could do with some TLC.
Great place to walk around with the centre spread over three different levels.
Lots of interesting hands on demonstration objects to try which will keep children and adults of all ages engaged.
If visiting during a weekday and schools are starting to go in go directly to the top floor where it will be quieter and work your way down.
I'd love to give five stars to this museum, it's a gem:)
But I feelt unwelcome. Car access to the campus is through a barrier and it's necessary to press an out of reach, for me, button to have it opened. And once inside there is zero signage. This is a big site it needs signs.
Once you discover the elusive Lapworth Museum 'where are the toilets'. Again, almost, no signs. And the coffee shop? Nope. Not there. Nothing at all.
I wanted to spend more time here, but thirst eventually dictated.
So in summary: A great little museum, well laid out and full of interest. But zero love for the casual visitor.
Very interesting place to visit inside Birmingham University.

It's not a huge space but it has some really good exhibitions. A complete timeline of Earth's eras with lots of information about it. Minerals and fossils that can teach a lot.

The museum is for all ages, kids and adults will like and learn something while visting it.
Some interesting things to learn and lots of activities to do. Unfortunately there was alot of schools there the day we went with really noisy unruly children which the teachers weren't controlling, they was running about screaming and we had to have a break in the coffee shop to bear going back in. So more supervisors needed as the teachers didn't care. It was alot better once they left at 2/2:30pm. We booked onto the Planetarium tour but didn't go in as when we was waiting there was an obviously very ill child coughing non stop and we didn't want to get ill for the rest of our holiday especially as she was not putting her hand over her mouth and coughing over everything. Definitely take hand sanitisation with you. Staff friendly and helpful. Cafe good. Children enjoyed most of it.
Superleuk museum, zeker voor (aanstaande) ingenieurs.
Interesting place, unfortunately not much to see. Good place for quick visit with kids.

Leider waren einige Abteilungen wegen Umbauarbeiten geschlossen. Dennoch sehenswert.
In januari geweest, vele onderdelen, ondergebracht in verschillende loodsen waren helaas gesloten.

Stoom, textiel, computers. Leuk veelzijdige techniek museum.
