Very poor service, waiting times for parking or council tax or anything is 40mins plus , staff are unhelpful and hang up when it suites. Hardly anything works smithery on their so call new website my Islington - such a big council and wealthy but can’t pay for a working website for the residents - ( not that we pay over the odd for council tax or anything)
They charge extra for everything but don’t deliver a service accordingly.
Simply disgusting and a waste of money they done even stick to rubbish collection days or sweep roads properly
Absolutely shocking. 10am visit to hand in my postal vote sealed envelope but the receptionist.....when she got back to reception...pushed an a4 form in front of herself saying "if I have to take that envelope in I will need to fill.in this big long form, its easier for you to pop it into the postbox at royal mail over the road" I asked her if that would make it too late to count but was told no she was sure it would still get counted!!!!!! Then as I turn around to go, an older man was asking the same and guess what.....she lifted the a4 form and started the explantation about SHE would have to fill the form in. I offered to take his envelope to the post box with mine....vital piece of info the lazy receptionist didnt pick up on......I'm disabled and walk with an aid......she was so engrossed in not filling out forms she never even clicked it. Council customer training needed somewhere don't you think.
This council just sucked and ripped people off. I drove and entered a restricted area which is my fault. But my one time entry was captured by 2 cameras and they issued 2 tickets to me. I appealed twice and they also admitted it is one occasions captured by 2 cameras but still insisted that I need to pay 2 times penalties. What the hell is it? I am asking again and hope some officals fromt the council can contact me and explained to me the ground of such charge. In future if they installed 10 cameras then people will need to pay 10 times fee. What they don't just raise the fee itself but need to do things in such a shameful way?
I actually cannot believe how rude and dreadful the woman was towards me on the phone. I saw their homelessness advice number on their page so i called up as I needed advise and couldn't believe how awful her customer service was towards me. I was given such bad attitude and she did not want to offer ANY advise or support. She did not care one bit to help which left me feeling completely outraged. You're dealing with a lot of vulnerable people here who are in need of support.. so need to hire more empathetic people not bullies !!! This is not on one bit
This council ticks the equality checklist and gives jobs to incompetent individuals. They treat you like dirt from the ground from the moment you set foot in their building. Side note, they've invested millions into the council office, yet can't help those in need. Haha. If anyone dares to speak up and when someone does, they call it discrimination and abuse. Staff at the front desk of the housing team are nasty. You've got a sloth of a woman working there, a man who thinks he rules the roost and got in as the result of equality purposes and anti social, off the street individuals, probably coming in through an equality checklist route. No knowledge, no respect, no etiquette, Nada. Managers look as if they eat the funding provided by the government. Don't give yourself the hassle, and seek assistance from another council.

Practically thrown in awful run down temporary accommodation with my 1 year old daughter over a year ago and been left there with no contact from anyone at Islington council. I was advised I’d only be there 56 days, clearly a trap to make you accept the offer!

Absolutely disgusted at the treatment me and my daughter have received by the housing team at Islington council, it is appalling!

1 year and 2 months later we are still stuck in the same position with no one to turn to for help.
DO NOT ENTER THEIR TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION. The deals they make with the landlords/lettings agencies are just a business partnership. Both do not care for the safety of the residents. They have placed individuals I know in rodent infested properties without highlighting there are rodent issues. Please do yourself a favour, do not make your homelessness application with these animals.
After having an extremely tough two years where I've lost family members, almost lost my husband to covid 19 and almost dying myself, losing our jobs and having to survive on very little income, i made contact with the council to keep them updated on my situation. Karen Bentley has always been extremely understanding and reassuring but Karen is off at present so I was put through to Joanne Ravenscroft!
Family members witnessed and were appalled by her manor. She talked over me, was unhelpful, accusary, rude and unkind! I understand staff at the council deal with unpleasant people, I've never been one of them! I haven't slept and have been left feeling traumatised by this member of staff. When phones are working I will be taking this further!
