Byculla Zoo is a true haven for nature enthusiasts and animal lovers alike. Spread over a sprawling area, this zoo boasts a diverse range of exotic animals and birds. The enclosures are thoughtfully designed with spacious habitats that prioritize the well-being of the animals. A visit to the Byculla Zoo promises an enjoyable and enriching experience for individuals of all ages, promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation for our natural world.
Nice zoo...big enough for city like Mumbai where space is a big issue. Smaller enclosures for animals but accomodated a big variety of animals. Nice to see variety of birds....sad Peacock is not kept there.
Penguin enclosure is very badly managed, had to be in a line for 40 50 mins and was pushed out within a minute, do not get enough time to let the kids see what they came for.
Suggested to bring enough water considering you need to walk around 3 to 4 kms within premises. Water facility is there inside but its always crowded or water flow is too low.
Kids would love turtle section, kept in glass enclosure with small pool/pond inside.
If you're going with toddlers, be ready to carry them around as its tiring to wait in lines.
If you are planning for weekend/ public holiday, I suggest you to reach around 10 AM, else it gets too crowded. Plus animals tends to be sleepy in shades after lunch hours.

Worth visiting to explore the ancient caves. Located within Sanjay Gandhi National Park, one can plan to spend at least half a day out here.
I think this is the best place for relieving your stress and anxiety they are working to improve their services and I think they will bring lion as soon as possible but know the king of rani baug it's the king of cats the one only tiger, they know included a very beautiful cave of crocodile also you must go there and see the beauty of nature and animals
How pathetic booking online ticket for Zoo is. Taking online ticket was easy which I booked and got QR ticket. I am not getting that how idiotic when you have QR ticket, anyway we have to take paper ticket at ticket booking counter to tear by security at entrance. Good maintain by authority but no Lion and fox in zoo, not many animals. There are penguins very well kept in zoo. We come out in 1 hr. Outside food and plastic bottle not allowed inside. There are cafes inside and rates are as usual no high price. Overall good for kids

als je hier komt om de Taj te bekijken raad ik aan om deze plek over te slaan. Als je de weg naar de rivier volgt hoef je maar 50.- te betalen en hier is het beste uitzicht. Er staat een muur en een hek met prikkeldraad tussen beide locaties en als je al 300.- hebt betaald wil je waarschijnlijk ook nog naar de bankjes toe om het perfecte uitzicht te hebben. In mijn ogen is dit een toeristen oplichting waar veel geld wordt verdient door de mensen die het weiland beheren.
November 2023, This is the first time we managed to see the majority of the animals too close to be really close in their environment provided we both were safe at their comfort zone. Well maintained and vigilance team for no plastic efforts are commendable. The food served at the food court is amazing.

कान्हेरी लेणी ही महाराष्ट्रात उत्तर मुंबईमध्ये बोरीवलीजवळ साष्टी बेटाच्या अरण्यात असलेली लेणी आहेत. ही लेणी इ.स.पू. १ ले शतक ते इ.स. १ ले शतक यादरम्यान निर्माण केलेली आहे. कान्हेरी लेणी बोरीवली उद्यानाच्या मधोमध आहेत.[१] 'कान्हेरी' या शब्दाचा उगम कृष्णगिरी (अर्थ: काळा डोंगर/पाषाण) या पाली नावापासून झाला आहे. ही लेणी काळाकुट्ट दगड तासून बनविलेली आहेत. लेणी संजय गांधी राष्ट्रीय उद्यानाच्या मुख्य प्रवेशद्वारापासून ६ कि. मी. व बोरीवली रेल्वे स्टेशनपासून ७ कि. मी. अंतरावर आहेत.[२] पर्यटकांसाठी ह्या लेणी (गुंफा) सकाळी ९ पासून उघड्या असतात. या लेण्यांतून भारताच्या बुद्धकाळातील कला व संस्कृतीचे दर्शन घडते.
कृष्णगिरी या शब्दाचा कान्हेरी असा अपभ्रंश असावा असे मानले जाते. येथील चैत्य लेणी ही गौतमीपुत्र सातकर्णी राजाच्या काळात (इ. स. १७३ - इ. स. २११) कोरली गेली असावी असा अंदाज आहे.[३]
बौद्ध भिक्खूंसाठी विहार, सभागृह, खोल्या अशा वास्तू येथे आहेत. बुद्ध आणि अवलोकितेश्वर यांच्या मूर्तीही येथे कोरलेल्या आहेत. डोंगर माथ्यावर पाण्याची टाकी खोदलेली आहेत. [३]
कान्हेरी लेण्यांमध्ये एकूण १०९ लेणी (गुंफा) आहेत.[४] जवळची एलेफंटा गुंफा शोभिवंत, लकाकीयुक्त व सुंदर पैलू पाडून बनविलेली आहे. प्रत्येक गुंफेतील जमीन म्हणजे गुहेचा दगडी पाया आहे. त्यात मोठाल्या खांबांनी युक्त असे भव्य सभागृह आहे. त्यात बुद्ध धर्मीयांचे पवित्र स्तूपही आहे. वरील बाजूस पाण्याचा पाट आणि हौद आहे. पुरातन काळात पावसाचे पाणी विशेष प्रकारे वळवून पाण्याच्या मोठ्या टाक्या भरल्या जात असत.
गुंफा पूर्ण झाली की त्यांचे परिवर्तन विहारामध्ये होई आणि तेथे बौद्ध धर्मीयांचे पुढील कार्यक्रम चालू होत. इसवी सनाच्या तिसऱ्या शतकातील बौद्ध धर्मीयांच्या कोकण कोस्ट सामोपचाराच्या दृष्टीने कान्हेरी गुंफांना फार महत्त्व आहे. बौद्ध प्रभाव घेऊन आलेली ही लेणी कृष्णगिरी उपवनातील भव्य खडकाळ पृष्ठभागावर बरीच दुरून दृश्यमान होणारी एक वस्तू आहे.
बहुतेच गुंफांचा वापर बौद्धधर्मीय श्रमण यांना राहण्यासाठी, अभ्यासासाठी आणि ध्यानासाठी करीत. मोठ्या गुंफामधून परिषदा भरविल्या जातात. तसेच तेथे स्तूप आहेत त्यामुळे तेथे प्रार्थना करण्यासाठीही त्यांचा वापर केला जाई. अवलोकितेश्वराची मूर्ती ही एक वेगळेच विशेष दर्शन देते. बौद्ध संघातील जीवनात काय हवे आहे, याबद्दलचे मार्गदर्शन बहुतेच विहारातील मठाधीश देत असतात. येथील संघ बऱ्याच व्यावसायिक केंद्राशी जोडलेले आहेत. त्यात सोपारा बंदर, कल्याण, नाशिक, पैठण आणि उज्जैन समाविष्ट आहेत. मौर्य आणि कुषाण हे सत्ताधारी होते तेव्हा कान्हेरी हे विद्यापीठ होते. १० व्या शतकाच्या शेवटी शेवटी (९८० - १०५४) अतिशा ही बौद्ध शिक्षिका कृष्णगिरी विहारात राहुल गुप्ता यांचेकडून बौद्ध ध्यानसाधना शिकण्यासाठी आली होती.

Ein sehr schöner Garten mit ausgezeichneten Blick auf das Taj Mahal. Gerade zum Sonnenuntergang super schön. Eine deutliche Empfehlung es sich auch von der anderen Seite des Flusses anzukucken.
