I was there on a week day in June and it was dead. A few sad stores with no shoppers. It looked like a dying mall with half of the stores closed. It looks nice and luxurious, but empty.
Our family of 3 were in Loreto for a few days early May after a sea kayak trip and only had time to do one canyon hike. We tried several tour companies but they all required a minimum of 4 people and were not offering the hike we wanted being the end of the season. Until we stumbled on to Sea and Land Tours. Juvenal and Irene were super helpful and recommended Mesquite Canyon. We started at 6 am - a good call as it got very hot later in the day. Our guide, Luis, came ready with a delicious burrito lunch and we ate half of them for breakfast, which gave us lots of energy for the hike ahead. At times the rock was quite sheer and the rocks in the water slippery, but Luis took care to tell us where to step in the more difficult spots. Along the way Luis gave us great information about the plants and animal life around, and showed us puma tracks near the water. By the end of the hike we opted not to swim in the pool since we had gotten quite soaked wading through chest-high water already. Good thing, because Luis jumped up suddenly and said, “Puma.” We quickly gathered together about 100 feet away and the puma crossed the pool and hid in the trees up the slope. Luis thought the puma was waiting there for animals stopping to drink. It was huge and looked well fed. Luis told us pumas avoid humans and he sees 5 pumas out of the 100 or so hikes that he makes per season, so this was a rare occurrence. It was a surreal, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The owner, Juve, used to guide sea kayak tours like circumnavigating Carmen Island in 7 days. I would go with this tour company next time.

Excelente servicio, trato y puntualidad!!!

Super recomendado

We did a day trip to Coronado island. We had an outstanding experience and our guide, Rafa, was excellent. Swimming with the sea lions was a highlight. Well organized and run
Excelente servicio.

A Hidden Gem in Quintana Roo
Kukulcan Plaza is a hidden gem nestled along Blvd. Kukulcan in the heart of the Zona Hotelera. Upon entering, I was greeted by a cool, air-conditioned oasis—a welcome respite from the tropical heat. The mall’s architecture seamlessly integrates modern design with Mayan influences, creating an inviting atmosphere.

Cleanliness Takes Center Stage
The first thing that struck me was the immaculate cleanliness of the entire plaza. From the polished floors to the spotless glass windows, it’s evident that the management takes pride in maintaining a pristine environment. Even the washrooms—often a hit-or-miss in public places—were noticeably clean and sanitary. As a traveler, this attention to hygiene is greatly appreciated.

The Second-Floor Surprise
Ascending to the second floor, I discovered the crowning jewel: a sprawling grocery store that left me utterly impressed. The sheer variety of products astounded me—from fresh produce to international delicacies. Whether you’re stocking up for a beach picnic or simply craving a snack, this grocery store has you covered. And the best part? The prices won’t break the bank. As a budget-conscious traveler, I couldn’t be happier.

A Midday Quirk
However, not everything was sunshine and piña coladas. Around noon, I noticed that several shops remained shuttered. Perhaps it was the laid-back Mexican pace, or maybe I caught them during their siesta. Regardless, it’s worth planning your visit accordingly. If you’re an early bird, you’ll have the advantage of exploring more shops before they close up for the day.

Souvenirs Galore
Now, let’s talk souvenirs. Kukulcan Plaza surprised me with its unique and reasonably priced offerings. Unlike the typical tourist traps (the Flea Market), where trinkets cost a fortune, here you’ll find authentic keepsakes without emptying your wallet. From handcrafted ceramics to vibrant textiles, I snagged a few treasures to remind me of this enchanting place.

Final Thoughts
In summary, Kukulcan Plaza is a delightful blend of cleanliness, convenience, and surprises. As a first-time visitor, I left with a smile on my face, a reusable shopping bag full of goodies, and a promise to return. So, fellow travelers, add this gem to your Quintana Roo itinerary—you won’t be disappointed! 🌴🛍️

Sadly it was a waste of time. It looks nice but… it’s empty, more security guards than customers. Many closed down stores, luxury brands but nothing to actually attract people, no food court, no cinema, nothing. We took a walk inside and then promptly left.

One of the best hiking trips we did. Que Loco conveniently organized the trip and gave us all the information needed, even though we booked only the evening before. Luis is a wonderful guide! He not only told us about the volcanoes and the nature around it, we also talked about Mexican history, culture, politics and food! It was just a wonderful day and we had the whole national park to ourselves.

Kukulcan is a modern, clean, and vibrant mall with lots of store options. There is a grocery store on the second floor that sells everything from meats, produce, beverages, beauty products, and tourist gifts. It's the equivalent of a US Grocery store. There are several banks, clothing, and jewelry stores on site. There is also a food court and small entry stalls around the mall.

A decent mall with a good selection of shops and a few places that you can get something to eat or drink. The facilities are fairly good and it has some very interesting stained glass rooftop artwork.

It was really cool to see thoose decorated animals by the shops as well as the tax free booth you go up to with your high-end purches
If you get the opportunity to have David as your guide…what a treasure! His passion, knowledge, and expertise is truly a gift.

He genuinely knows his stuff. He cares deeply about guest experience, and the animals overall. He shares facts and wisdom eloquently and participates alongside guests in study and intrigue of the animals. He is genuinely invested in guests best interests and safety, as well as the animals!

The tour was phenomenal! We we saw 4 individual blue whales, one fin, and one hybrid (blue/fin offspring) we dubbed “trickster” with 80+ sightings on 3/3/2022. We saw dolphins, sea lions, juvenile frigates, lots of fish and skate/ray eggs, plankton, krill, and school of fish. It was an unbelievable tour.

I did have some less than pleasant experience briefly but the owners took care of it and made it right immediately.

I’m very thankful for their efforts and will be out with them again in the future.

Thank you
The price it's a little bit salty. Overall their treatment are very good. We took the 3 days tours around Carmen, Danzante and Coronado. Our captain "Tony" was wonderful and took us into incredible places. We saw dolphins, Wales, turtles, sea lions and a bunch of colorful fishes.
