My family and I visited this restaurant on yesterday and was disappointed with the experience. The staff seemed very stressed. When we queued to order food, a lady with short hair gave us an unfriendly look and told us we should order from our table. However, when we tried to order from the waiter at our table, he instructed us to order at the counter.
We eventually ordered the number 1 and number 2 best-selling cakes. Unfortunately, they were just average and overpriced. When we went to the cashier with the pink slip that had our order details, the same lady with short hair rudely questioned how we got the slip.
If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy coffee and cakes with friends or family, I would not recommend this place.

Really horrible service ever been in Penang area as a local here. We just want a proper or common or basic or level 1 manner nia, sorry you cant find it here. If you find for a place to chill and looks for the foods and cakes, Penang still got many option to go. If you are fine for the bad service and the cakes taste very common then you can come and "enjoy".

I decided to dinner here because the atmosphere looked pretty good (and it was) but I was quite surprised because food was also very good and the live music improves a lot the experience. The staff is nice and there are tvs to watch football.
Beer is a little bit expensive (as always in a Muslim country) but is as cold as the heart of my ex girlfriend.

China House is an excellent restaurant, primarily known for its artistic ambiance and its cakes. it's also part of a complex that has a bar that has fantastic live music. You can actually buy your cake at this restaurant and carry it to the bar area at the other end of the complex, and order your drinks there and check out a band - at least that is what I did.
The cakes are delicious, super-sized, and worth the price. I would say that even though the hype is tremendous.....This place is worth checking out at least once unless you want to try all of the different cakes on different trips 😆

This is one of my favorite places to visit in Penang, for delicious cakes and to meet friends. The famous Tiramisu (comes in two varieties: with and without alcohol), salted caramel cheesecake and mint chocolate cake were excellent. We also like the smoked duck quiche.
Service was good. Place js a unique combination of heritage building, modern art gallery and rustic furniture. On each table, they provide papers and crayons for you to channel your artistic drawing skill or to scribble an idea.
Highly recommended.

Great place, good vibes, went there around 11am plus when there just opened, got the place all by myself ... Good were quite ok. Beer is cold. Price is really reasonable considering that it's located in Pavilion.

From the moment I step in, they've got the whole hospitality thing down pat, guiding us to the bar area with genuine politeness. And it's awesome how the waitstaff takes the time to walk us through the menu, making recommendations that really hit the spot.
I'm totally intrigued by the music scene they've set up. It must be quite the sight and sound to behold!
But hey, it seems like they might want to tweak the music selection a bit to match the classy European vibe they've got going on. A little fine-tuning could really enhance the whole atmosphere.
Overall, it sounds like they go above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience, right down to escorting us to car for that added touch of exclusivity and safety.
It's evident they're dedicated to keeping things fresh, constantly experimenting with new dishes to cater to diverse tastes.
If you're into live bands and all-around good vibes, this place definitely sounds worth checking out!

Got a slice of the chocolate for my partner & ended up having half of it.. wonderfully soaked in alcohol 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 a must try if you happen to be at that area..

The rating should've been more stars coz actually i came to this live house before. Everything was so good. The food, the atmosphere, the service and most of all, the music. I can only say that the engineer must have known his stuff so damn well. Frank to say i went for the music and the beat as i was recommended by a friend. And now it became like this. Such a shame though. It used to have those big comfy sofas at the corner but now its all gone and changed into, well, not so comfy chairs. I was curious though coz people never downgrade but upgrade, why this live house different case. Anyways, not gonna step foot into this live house again. Waste of money.
Been here for a few times for the food. We have always chosen to be seated in the cigar room area where it is quieter. Attentive staff and food is tasty too!
Pay with the price of fine dine, but the quality of the food is worst than Pasar Malam. Tell us that don’t have main course, not prepared yet. Okay fine…Sound system soso, maybe sound engineering not experiences. DO NOT TRUST XHS PLEASEEEE
This is a restaurant that never fails you. Do not just go for dessert. Their dinner menu is damn good. And don’t bother to go to other Michelin Selected Italian restaurant for tiramisu (you know which one in town), theirs is the best (both alcohol one or without alcohol one). Staffs are all under fasting month but they are all nice.

The warm atmosphere sets the stage for a memorable meal, while friendly service ensures a pleasant visit. Ordered Steak and ribeye as well as platter, every bite is worth savoring. Really Relax and indulge in a culinary adventure at this restaurant. It is worth to mention staff named Rebuke provide professional attentive service to guest.
80000 by Fam, Johor Bahru Malaysia: We’ve been much combed all the cafes in the nostalgic meets hipster area, save for 80000 by Fam. It’s less surprising and brow-raising compared to Bev C, Flowers in the Window or Replacement Lodge. But it holds its quiet own quirkiness. The most arresting part of the cafe is the window upstairs where you can park yourself on the long bench. Scallop pesto pasta smelt and tasted wonderful. Scallops weren’t too well grilled unfortunately. Salad with a side of salmon was ok but could do with more salmon. It’s still a good place to while your morning away. #eatstylishtravelstylish
The coffee here is really good and we love the breakfast. The 2nd floor seating area was really spacious and nice jazz music in the background made the overall ambience really relaxing. Will come again next time.
Food and drinks amazing. We had the Salmon Mash, the Volcano Beef Bowl, signature Koffee and Earl grey cheese cake. Taste texture and presentation all good, but a little over priced. Service is great but food did take a while to come, maybe they're short of staff. Ambiance is also great, will definitely come back again.
The food here is hopeless. Ordered naan , it was hard and bland . Made a mistake goin there. The service is too bad. Dont waste your money.
Good Indian dishes. Nice view. Quiet. Perfect lighting and music. The senior staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Probably the most romantic restaurant in the resort.

Now serving lunch. The senandung and alab bana set is yummsss. Needed some curry and dhal for the briyani.
We walked in to an empty restaurant with a big hall and nice seating arrangement. We came here because it was an all Indian menu and didn't feel like going out to Mother India again. We liked the menu and ordered a seekh kabab and naan. Their menu indicated that the Naan will come with pickles and dal so we did not order it separately. After a long wait when the food arrived, we were shocked to see the limited quantity of dal that came with the 4 giant naan (that is just one quantity) . The naan was bland and tasteless; the kabab was bland too - it was just eating a blob of chicken without ant taste - they didn't even marinate it nicely. Overall, it was a terrible experience and would not recommend to Indian travelling to Kota Kinabalu. Go to Mother India - they are the only authentic Indian restaurant in the area

When it was suggested to try Indian food.... in Borneo.... really. Well what a choice it turned out to be. If you love food and want to try an authentic full flavour from India this is the place fair prices for the area and just food to die for. Give it a go when here....
