I thoughly enjoyed my time at the Mill De Kat, seeing this impressive design and construction still functioning today. I loved seeing and hearing the mill in action with its heavy mill stones turning mineral stone to powder for classical paints. The modular construction of the huge gears and how the mill head could be turned by hand to catch the best wind by the windmill blades was inspiring.
Amazing site with a very nice bike lane.
Took the water bus from rotterdam to get there. You can rent a bike right next to where the water bus docks ( near Kinderdijk kiosk shop)

This is a wonderful place to stop and visit. I learned a lot of new and amazing things about the famous Dutch Windmills! The volunteer guides are wonderful and knowledgeable!

One of the most beautiful places I visited. It so nice, you can enjoy in the beautiful view, learn something new. If you come close you need to pay a parking but if you walk little bit behind you can found a free parking. You have also nice restaurant there where you can drink your caffe and nice cookies and small shopping area for souvenirs. I enjoyed ❤️

I have been to Kinderdijk several years ago and wanted to come back again and spend more time here. We arrived after 5pm when everyone was gone and the parking space was empty and free. We took the bus from Rotterdam to Kinderdijk which took us approx. 40 minutes ride. The weather was great with blue skies and no clouds, just a bit of wind AND no tourists.....except us!!. This place is magical and it costs nothing to walk along the river and watch the windmills. I am not sure if the mills still turn like in Zaanse Schans, but it was still magical, calm and a completely opposite site and view compared to bustling Rotterdam with its modern architecture. I could spend hours here just watching the mills and the landscape and taking pictures. The best time is to come at sunrise, or when the sun is setting. We were a bit too early, but the photos turned out great.

Klein aber super schön. Die Führung durch die Windmühle war interessant und lehrreich. Und besonderes Kompliment an die Damen (vor allem Guide)!

De molen staat in de steigers voor renovatie en binnen hebben ze een groot assortiment bakartikelen. Van cakemeel, pannenkoekenmeel tot broodmixen.
Verder is het personeel erg behulpzaam en vriendelijk en wordt er een uitgebreide uitleg gegeven over de verschillende soorten meel of mix.
Wij hadden wat broodmixen meegenomen en het eigen “Voegenbrood” welke een heerlijke mix bleek te zijn voor een wat zoeter brood.
Gezellige echte molenwinkel en zeker een bezoek waard!

Nice place near from dordrecht you have to take a bike this is the best option. Because is big and so small parking places what we see. You can walk whitout tickets this you need to go inside the museum and the windmills. But we like it was a nice bike trip for sunday.
The most spectacular scenery in the Netherlands 💖🏞️. This is the place where you can admire the most famous traditional windmills. The views where the windmills combine with the blue sky, greenish grasslands and crystal clear water are gorgeous. Kinderdijk is a must-visit place in Netherlands.

Compare to Zaanse Schans, Kinderdijk has much fewer visitors and less commercialise. It is the better place for you to enjoy the nature with the windmills .

This place is fantastic. Worth the tour bus ride. Tickets can be purchased at the train station Lots of history of how the windmills work & history of the area. Restaurants in the area on the tour. How they make the cheers and taste testing. Best cheers I’ve tasted yet. Check them out. Just an FYI to all tourists. All restrooms (toilets ) have a small fee so come prepared with spare change. Enjoy!
Bought a day trip tour. The tour took us to this windmill village of Zaanse Schans. This particular windmill is still operating. It is used to make oil from peanuts. You will be amazed of the windmill mechanism inside. You can go up to the second floor for nice photos. There is a museum nearby. Buy a cup of coffee so you can use the toilet. It would be nice to have a little mpre time to check out other tourist shops as well.
It was astonishing experience exploring the Cat. The people working there were nice and friendly. The view from the windmill was breathtaking.
Very easy to walk around even though some people don’t follow the signage about bike lane vs walking. They had a small strawberry stand and stroopwaffles outside the store which was great to try out. Only need a ticket to visit the museums and windmills.
We visited the Kinderdijk windmill complex near Rotterdam on a rainy day. Approximately half of the windmills were operational, and visitors could enter two of them. Despite the poor weather, there were many visitors. Due to the extensive grounds, there was no crowding. The parking lot is located about 800 meters away near the ferry terminal.
Die Führung von Olaf war absolut genial. Seine Geschichten und Anekdoten zur Mühle haben die Geschichte wirklich lebendig werden lassen.
Es ist auf jeden Fall einen (oder mehrere) Besuch (e) wert!

Sehr nette Führung durch die Mühle mit Jolanda, die sehr gut Deutsch spricht. Sehr informativ und lehrreich.
Sehr schöne, gut restaurierte Mühle. Die 1-stündige Führung war sehr nett und kurzweilig und auch für Kinder geeignet. Ein Besuch lohnt sich!

Sehenswerter Ort mit sehr schöner gepflegter Mühle die man kostenfrei begehen kann. Sehr nette Leute die dort gerne auch etwas erzählen über die Mühle oder einfach nur eine Unterhaltung führen. Über einen kleinen Obolus zum Erhalt der Mühle freut man sich auch herzlich. Die darunter liegende Brücke ist auch schön und sehenswert. Top!
We choose to visit the area in the early morning and it was a good decision because at 9:20 a.m when we arrived there were some cars and few buses; after one and a half hours becoming extremely crowded (being also the Saturday of the extended weekend of May 1)
Wat een fantastisch leuke molen met enorm enthousiaste medewerkers, waarvan de meeste dit ook nog vrijwillig doen, door passie gedreven. Mooie en zeer goede producten. TOP
Tolle Mühle. Man muss zuerst eine sehr steile Treppe hochklettern. Oben kann man sich in Ruhe umschauen und die Mitarbeiter vor ort erzählen gerne über die Mühle und ihre funktionsweise. Für Kinder steht eine kleine Handmühle bereit, wo man das Korn selbt mahlen kann.
Tolle, alte, funktionstüchtige Windmühle die zum Pumpen von Wasser und damit zur Landgewinnung benutzt wurde und teilweise immer noch benutzt wird. Spannende, stündliche Führungen in vielen Sprachen. Im Turm ist aus irgendeinem Grund noch eine kleine Rembrandt-ausstellung untergebracht.
Mühlen ... Wahrzeichen der Niederlande. Immer schön anzusehen und ein tolles Fotomotiv, vor allem mit Wasser und Schiffen davor.

Die heutige Molen De Put wurde in den Achtziger Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts neu aufgebaut. Genauso beeindruckend sind auch die beiden Brücken, die die Mühle flankieren.
Fantastisch oude maar nog jonge kranige dame voor haar leeftijd. De laatste molen van Dordrecht. Moet behouden blijven dus geef gul voor de restauratie. Winkel en vrijwilligers zijn 👍🏻en zeer enthousiast.

Unbedingt auch eine Führung bei der sehr netten,auch deutschsprachigen holländischen einheimischen Dame machen.Fas ist nicht nur sehr interessant,sondern auch unterhaltsam und witzig.Man erfährt welchen Sinn die Windmühlen rund um Amsterdam herum haben.Ach ja,und Heiraten kann man in der Mühle auch noch.Sehr empfehlenswert.Mit dem Eintrittspreis unterstützt man übrigens den Erhalt der Windmühle,auch deswegen muss man unbedingt diesen Ort besuchen.

Die De Monte Ben ist nur eine Mühle von insgesamt 17 heute. Im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert drehten sich über 1100 Mühlen. Die Mühlen, die heute zu besichtigen sind gehören zur Region Zaansteek, einer Art Freilichtmuseum.
Ein Verein kümmert sich um die Erhaltung dieses Traditiongutes. Besichtigung insgesamt gratis, betreten einzelner Windmühlen gegen Eintrittsgeld.
Das Willighaus ist ein großer Käselade: Chees anderen Cheanees lautet das Motto.

De Bonte Hen ist eine Ölmühle und darf/muss besichtigt werden. Die Kassiererin erklärte mir zu Beginn auf Deutsch die Entstehungsgeschichte der Mühle. Weiter ging es vorbei an vielen Bildern/Gemälden, auf denen Mühlen abgebildet waren, zum Arbeitsraum. In diesem konnte ich den Mitarbeitern bei der Arbeit zusehen und bekam alles erklärt (sogar auf Deutsch – hierfür noch einmal danke). Die Erklärungen zum Arbeitsablauf waren sehr informativ und verdeutlichen die schwere Arbeit. Zudem sind die Mitarbeiter einem teilweise enormen Lärmpegel ausgesetzt.
Der Eintritt ist einen Besuch wert und trägt zudem zum Erhalt dieses Kulturgutes bei. Am besten außerhalb der Saison einen Besuch einplanen, so wie ich im Dezember vor Weihnachten (regelrecht menschenleer und das Wetter war sehr stürmisch). Zudem sehr gut per Zug aus Amsterdam erreichbar und der Weg ist vom Bahnhof in Zaandijk Zaanse Schans ausgeschildert.

Sehr schöne Mühle
Beste Führung ever, ever - wunderbar kurzweilig und informativ erzählt. Ich habe sehr viel über die Funktionen der Mühle mitbekommen. Die Mühle ist aktiv im Einsatz. Von ehemals 10000 sind noch 1000 Mühlen übrig. Diese Mühle stand ursprünglich an einer anderen Stelle und wurde hier originalgetreu aufgebaut. Alles wird genau erklärt und gezeigt. Rembrandt war der Sohn eines Müllers, deshalb erfährt man in einem Film auch noch über ihn. Absolut empfehlenswert! In unmittelbarer Nähe gibt es eine Eisdiele (sah aus wie ein Privathaus auf dem Weg zurück zur Trambahn) - das Eis war soooooo lecker. Von der Central Station mit der Tram 2 bis zur Endstation, danach der Beschilderung folgen. Inklusive Fußweg dauert die Anfahrt etwa eine Stunde. Aber es lohnt sich!
