You're in Thailand and you want to visit or see Siem Reap's famous ancient temples but do not have time to travel far yet? Fear no more! Hidden (actually not really 😅) just hours away from Bangkok is Mueang Sing Historical Park in Sai Yok district of Kanchanaburi. Two temples of the once great Khmer Empire is protected here. These temples (ruins) are dated far back around 857 - 1157, a period when Khmer Kingdom was flourishing (ref:wikipedia). However, upon the start of the decline of the great kingdom, this place was unfortunately abandoned not until during Rama I's reign (from Thai history records) it became a military stronghold. Prasat Mueang Sing was originally a temple dedicated to Hindu god Shiva and its walls as a defense against western invasions.

This historical park measures approximately 736,000sqm so you have a good chance of walking exercise to comb the whole area. Ignoring the reality that you're just in Kanchanaburi, you could pretend that you've been transported to Siem Reap. Though not as overwhelming as the historical and amazing temples and ruins found in Siem Reap, this place has its own charm 🥰
Love this historical place. They did best keeping thing there for us to visit. just not to long drive from Karnchanaburi city to this place. There is entrance fee and you can park you car in the place.
Amazing place! Very well maintained and nice blend of nature and history
It's a nice park with some interesting history. To do your own tour you can scan a QR code and listen to a video at YouTube for severalvisiting points. Small area for food, drinks and souvenirs. U can use the car, motorcycle, walk or ride the bike to visit the different places.
U can enjoy a great view at the river to take a rest.
Like always: too expensive for foreigners... everywhere the same
Great experience. Worth to visit. Will definitely come back again
