Super interesting exposition in a very beautiful building. The mixture of Old painters, more recent artists and Old furniture, clocks or even dolls houses, set in a way, which help you to understand context and cultural patterns. Big thumb up for a critical approach to violent and abusive fondations of Haarlem's (and Dutch in general) wealth.

The Frans Hals Museum features Hals’ artwork alongside pieces by other prominent artists from Haarlem. The gallery is well-organized, presenting various themes such as portraits, seascapes, and floral paintings. Located just a 15-minute walk from the central station, the museum offers free entry to Museum Card holders. All exhibits include descriptions in both Dutch and English, and there is an excellent free audio guide available in both languages. Please note that some of Frans Hals' most famous works like The Lute Player are housed in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

I really enjoyed the presentation at the beginning of the exhibition. You learn a lot of Frans Hals techniques. Beautiful building as well. Don’t miss the Doll’s House and Bruegel in the same room. Ticket is valid on another temporary exhibition in town off the Grotemarkt, The Art of Drag. In that exhibition it was interesting to learn about the historic traditional day Hartjesdagen where men dress as women and vice versa. However, exhibition could maybe do with a nudity warning before you go into one room, in case not everyone is prepared for explicit images.
Loved this museum. I had a very enjoyable time here and enjoyed the story of Frans Hals very much. I wasn’t that aware of the artist but after this visit I feel I know quite some new things. The artworks on display are very beautiful and definitely worth the visit. There’s other artists as well beside Frans Hals and those are definitely worth it too. I stayed here for about 2 and a half hours and could have definitely stayed longer but due to time constraints I had to cut my visit short and rush the last few rooms. Nonetheless, this is definitely a worthwhile experience and highly recommended.
