Overall I had a very good experience at Marco Polo airport, there was smooth entry and exit with the efficient staff. I arrived at late evening from Frankfurt and upon arrival, wanted to get the sim card but both the shops were closed which caused a bit hustle for me while taking uber to my hotel. While exit from Venice, I observed many good eateries and shops to buy different things. You can also get a bus from outside airport to main city.
Honestly this airport has been a nickel and dime with splashes of rude. The MOST non friendly airport I’ve ever been in. After having to pay to check our carry ons then stand in line again… we asked someone (who works here) where we could have a seat cause everything was blocked off, she proceeded to look at us then turn around. Not to mention out gate wasn’t posted tell 10:30 and our flight left at 10:45. Good bye Italy ✌🏼
We found the Venice Marco Polo Airport to be very quick and convenient. Even though there is quite a bit of construction work in progress the way to go is well marked. There are also ample people to give directions. Immigration was straightforward and quick and all of the staff are friendly and helpful.
Good wi-fi. It is not crowdy at all. Security took only 5-10 minutes.

This still has the feel of a fairly modern airport. It is small which means that you get through pretty quickly. Most of the staff seem friendly.
On the downside there are only bakery type cafes, no proper restaurant. Also there is not a lot of space at busy check in times.
Baggage handling is ok but skis and other larger items were very slow and I saw handlers mistreating a disability aid which is really poor. Similarly the receipt of larger items was eventually done with a scowl.

Who gave this place even a 4 or 5 star? You have clearly never travelled far. This airport was horrible. Security lines that go on for centuries. They upgraded to automated boarding pass scanning machines. Great. Now let’s move security check points to gates instead of having this horrendous bottle neck. Security staff are taking their sweet time navigating traffic. Travelers were asked to put trays back themselves. What are the staff paid to do? There’s additional security after the machines that randomly come up to people to ask if you’re on business or vacation and how much money you’re carrying. Not sure what that’s about. The only star I give is for the lounge. Great lounge indeed!
Marco Polo Airport in Venice is an older airport with good maintenance. However, our flight to the airport still has to use a connecting bus to the terminal!
The checkout and check in procedures are smooth. The Italy tax refund window is fast and easy. It is easy to locate.
I loved their duty-free store and the Prosecco bar at the airport.
