Subject: Appalling Experience: Visa Rejection from Belgium Embassy
To whom it may concern,
I am utterly dismayed by the treatment I received during my recent visa application process at the Belgium Embassy. The level of incompetence and lack of empathy displayed by your staff is truly appalling.
Despite providing all the required documentation and fulfilling every criterion outlined on your website, my visa application was summarily rejected without any explanation or opportunity for clarification. This blatant disregard for due process is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the professionalism of your institution.
Not only was my time wasted in preparing for the application, but I was also subjected to rude and dismissive behavior from your embassy staff. Their condescending attitude and unwillingness to provide assistance only served to compound my frustration and disappointment.
Furthermore, the lack of transparency surrounding the decision-making process leaves me with serious doubts about the integrity of your visa application system. It is clear that arbitrary judgments are being made without proper consideration of individual circumstances.
In conclusion, I implore the Belgium Embassy to review its visa application procedures and ensure that future applicants are treated with the respect and fairness they deserve. Until then, I will be advising others to avoid the embassy at all costs, as my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare.

First person I had on the phone was friendly, the next one, from the voting department, was very agressive! She was on the defensive when I asked her why , only one email was sent (1year ago) regarding the upcoming EU vote in June 2024. Even justifying her poor tone, saying it was my responsibility! But isn’t your responsibility that the informations reach out to most people, but Not a single email reminder since last year was sent out ! We can’t say that emails are costly or require much work! This is the purest form of incompetence and laziness, I have ever seen, stoping us from performing our simplest civic duties! Madam, instead of taking note to improve your services, you’ve demonstrated poor character, which is embarrassing coming from your administration! I hope this feedback will reach the Belgian ambassador in London and you will implement a more efficient protocol! Regards,
SM

Need info on elections: poor website, embassy only open 4h per day; when you call you are cut off: we are busy, please call later"!! Sent email: "we will take a long time to respond, as we have 35,500 Belgians to look after"...Why the hell are we paying taxes to support these lazy bureaucrats? Shame on you.

The staff were pleasant and very helpful and efficient.
Bear in mind there is around a 2-month lead time for appointments (April 2024) so book early before your passport runs out!

Embassy didn't process my long-stay visa in time for my year abroad in September 2023, which they are usually good at from what I've heard from others. After not receiving my passport on the day I was meant to travel, I spammed their email every 15 minutes as advised from a lady at TLScontact Manchester and received a reply. They asked for documents that no other UK students had to provide, meaning I had to email back and forth with my host university in Belgium. I have a feeling they misplaced my documents and forgot to process my application and covered themselves by asking for documents I did not need to provide.
Thankfully after the whole debacle, they allowed me to pick up my passport and visa from the embassy first thing the next morning. I did have to leave at 2am to get to London and me and my family drove straight to Belgium after picking up my passport. We had to pay for a new Eurotunnel crossing and had to change hotel and airbnb reservations. The staff at the embassy were friendly, which most Belgians are, I'll give them that. However, the whole experience was distressing and not the best start to my year abroad. The process with applying for my residence permit through my host university from within Belgium was a lot easier.

Fantastic service from the staff at the passport's services. Very friendly. It does make the full process much easier and enjoyable specially when you are with children.
Thank you Mrs D.G.
It will be nice to have some chokotoff ;-)

I am Struggling to get my passport back. I have called the Embassy and the TLS but they are so unreliable enough and disorganise to tell me that they can’t find my passport on the system even with my full name and reference number. This is ridiculous. I really need them to return my passport back
