I think this is the best char koay teow I ate in penang. located inside Kafe Ping Hooi, there are lots of food stalls inside. The Loh bak also recommended eating together with the char koay teow.

The famous Tiger Char Koay Teow located in Ping Hooi cafe. We have been coming here anytime we are in Penang over a few years. The Koay Teow is still very tasty and has wok hei. Prices however have been rising steadily. Service is fast and friendly. A side bonus is to have special Loh Bak from the adjacent stall. The atmosphere is a typical old style Chinese coffee shop.
Super tasty and fragrant chao guo tiao. The noodle has little bits of crispy pork lard and clam meat. Add an extra duck egg, for a total of 11RM.

DO NOT COME HERE!!! Warning given. Come at your own risk. Full body Tattoo guy is harassing and demand we must buy drink or else… felt like a gangster… Coffee ice is rm4.50. Most expensive ever for a coffee shop in Malaysia. Fried kway tiao is rm11 the size of my palm. Judge it for yourself.
Inside a larger cafe complex, you can order your CKT with no egg, chicken egg or duck egg. The seasoning was good, but could have more wok hei. Nice and moist, not dry or oily. Staff were very friendly. Overall a nice CKT but not the best.
$10 for a plate of Char Koay Teow done with duck egg, portion on the smaller side but since it’s located at the heart of Georgetown, I can relate to its pricing strategy.
Definitely get your plate done with duck egg to complete your Char Koay Teow experience here at Penang. The fragrance of it is significantly better than regular chicken egg. Nevertheless, my only critic is for the lack of wok hey.

Famous lao hoh (tiger) char koay teow. Regular visit and bring frens and relatives. One of the best penang char koay teow. We also order loh bak, Ah Tui (duck meat) mie suai. Not forget the uncle loh mee. Visited this kopitiam many years. The best!
