This pub is amazing. Seeing pictures and videos does not do justice at all. We were pleasantly surprised at how quirky and impressive it was. We were very lucky to visit during the weekday, which meant that we were able to find a table and spend some time there. The lady who served was very pleasant and friendly. We found a table which was not reserved (most tables were reserved, as it looks like it gets very busy in the pub, because it is quite small I do think the best option is to book a table), and it was upstairs next to a small bar and next to the famous cursed galleon model ship. It was impressive to see it. The pub is kind of built into a cave. We had battered halloumi, which was really nice, and the wait for food wasn't long. Definitely recommend visiting, even if it is just for a cup of coffee. This pub is one of those must visit places. Hopefully, I will be back in the future.

Delicious food, great beer, and wonderful staff! I stopped here tonight with my boyfriend on our way through Nottingham. We had the pea & mint soup, the great British cheese toastie, the vintage cheddar Mac & cheese, and two different hand-pulled ales. Everything was excellent! I wasn’t feeling the best today so I wasn’t able to finish everything, but I really wish I could have! The décor inside was all so interesting, we spent some time looking around and were so impressed. The castle and cliffs outside are also beautiful.

The staff are empathetic and offer great service. After we sat down at our table, a male customer was making me uncomfortable by staring. We asked a bartender if we could move tables to be out of their view. They went out of their way to make sure that I knew that this wasn’t ok and that we could of course move tables, and asked if anything else could be done to resolve it. After moving, another bartender ensured that I felt comfortable with our new table, even after the other group had already left. From what little I’ve learned about the spirit and history of Nottingham in my short time here, I feel that they really exemplified the city’s values and made me feel validated and empowered as a woman. Thank you so much!

A very old pub restaurant with plenty of good food to choose from. It is built into the cliff under Nottingham Castle. We were visiting the area and it was recommended to us. We would certainly recommend it ourselves.

If you're in Nottingham and love old buildings, it's well worth visiting this pub. One of a few pubs laying claim to be the oldest in England, which is built into the cliffside below the castle (we'll probably never know which is actually the oldest). It's well worth visiting to have a look around (and a beer of course), and one to tick off the pub bucket list.

They had a few real ale offerings, which were in good condition. It can be busy inside, but there are lots of benches outside. They do food as well, but we just visited for a drink.

Fantastic pub built into the limestone cliff below the castle. Make reservations to sit inside. It is a Green King pub, but the food was better than your standard GK. It was fantastic to eat and drink in such a cool place. There were stories and cursed items all over. Worth the effort.

Wonderful atmospheric pub ser in the caves under Nottingham Castle from the 1100's. Make sure you make a reservation to get a table on one of the upper floors. Down by the bar gets crowded and has minimal cave atmosphere. We honestly had a perfect table under the chimney opening in the malting room. This is how they used to raise the beer up into the castle.

Unfortunately, I have to note that the food was not good. But I would still recommend going to grab a pint. You won't regret it!

We went here for a quick lunch stop - a cosy little pub that is built into the ancient caves, with gorgeous, rustic-looking interiors. The staff are warm and friendly.

Food was not extraordinary, but nothing short of being delicious either. We ordered:
•Fish and Chips
•Vintage Cheddar and Bacon Burger (the vintage melted cheese tasted heavenly!)

Highly recommend to anyone taking a tour around Nottingham - make sure to visit and maybe even cross paths with a resident ghost!
