The service in here is usually pretty good however, during my most recent visit I was getting on with some work and eating lunch (bought from Starbucks) with somebody else. We were forced to leave by Joanna after being told we couldn’t have a small table each and needed to share one as they were at “max capacity” (There were 6 free seats right in front of us) We tried to fit our laptops and they did not fit obviously, so we left disgruntled.

Best cappuccino I've had in the UK, hands down - and that includes the Holborn tea rooms.
8.5/10, which is a UK 10/10
Good overall taste and strength
Excellent temperature and milk consistency.
If I wasn't travelling from Australia, I'd be back to try the pastry
I am (was) a loyal customer and used to visit this store almost every day. The staff are doing amazing job.the store is run by a very friendly and chatty manager. He is always energetic and hardworking. But one of the staff member (Brett) is acting as if someone is forcing him to work. He is always rude to me. When I dont understand something (which is normal because I am not native spekaer) he increases his volume with a bad look. Rarely smiles. I know this job might be overwhelming especially during busy times. But when I visit this store, if he is working I feel stressful and want to leave early.

Amazing little cafe serving fresh and delicious food! The menu has a good amount of choice and includes vegetarian and vegan options. The food was absolutely amazing, really fresh and the portions were very generous. Was served a coffee with a very cute bear on top! The staff were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely return when visiting Edinburgh again!
I was for 5 days in Edinburgh and every day i had my coffee there in the morning. The espresso is amazing, pastry is also really good and the staff are very polite and friendly.Highly recommend!

Great coffee, pastries, and the friendliest staff. Highly recommended for everyone staying in the area. Thank you for adding the little bit of extra to our trip. All the best from Hamburg.

The two ladies working this morning were full of energy and smiles. I felt welcome and was treated as if I was the only customer there even though they had a few people waiting

Went here with a few friends for brunch on a Sunday and it was delicious!

We managed to get a table for four but it got busy after we arrived.

Three of us had pancakes and they were really tasty. One of us had the Mediterranean breakfast and it was huge!

I also noticed that they had a vegetarian and a vegan breakfast available which is great.

The sandwiches and cakes looked great too!

Be aware that it is quite small and they don’t take bookings so you may have to come back if they don’t have space.
Sehr kleines gemütliches Café mit netter 80er/90er Musik. Sehr freundliches Personal.

I have been coming to this Costa since it opened. I previously regularly used the Blockbuster and Morrisons which were here previously. This Costa is definitely a great shop to have in this unit. The staff are super friendly and definitely my favourite Costa I have been to. The only thing I would like to ask management to consider improving is more sandwiches, hot food options? I quite often get food with my coffee at other costas but at this gorgie branch I find myself just going for the coffee as there is a small selection of food. My son also enjoys the children's options available at other costa coffee. I continue to look forward to being a regular at this Costa coffee.
Ok. Its a coffee shop looks a bit dated. Iv been i three times lately. They need to clean the trays they use for sit in and the tea pots are disgusting . Bit over priced.
Ein kleines Juwel. Sehr leckere Sandwiches und Kuchen, top Kaffee, Preise okay und sehr freundlich in coolem Ambiente😊
The coffee is flavourless , felt like ordered a plain glass of milk . The chicken and bacon with mayo toastie was inedible . At least the hot chocolate was good .
Just along the street u can find better coffee and food places.
The service is non existent with 3 people chilling .
Avoid .

This tiny shop was one of our first experiences in Edinburgh.

It could not have been any better an experience.

The coffee, amazing.
The pastries, amazing.
The owner, FOOKIN crazy.

A bit out of the way, and we were in town only for one night. But we will be back when we return to one of our favorite places in our travels.

Frequented the shop quite a lot and generally good quality coffee, its in a convenient spot and usually very quick service.

On Sunday I had a bad experience with a couple of flat white coffees tasting of chemicals, like a residual cleaner or similar. I returned on the Tuesday with receipts to explain the situation and asked for a refund on 2 coffees. After a bit of deflection to the manager (I repeat, 2 coffees), I was met with "that is not possible, the machine rinses 10-15 times", followed by the manager disappearing into the back of the shop for 15 minutes without any sign of return. Her colleagues had a little chuckle to themselves as they made my new, paid-for order, but showed no interested in helping to resolve, rather I should wait indefinitely whilst this post mortem is concluded. Dear manager, the police force needs good detectives, you are in the wrong place!

I ordered my paid-for coffee and left for the last time. A company/franchise/store so frivolous with its customer care and would rather long time customers over pennies. Good luck.

Absolutely lovely spot! From the moment you walk in you’re greeted with a friendly, warm welcome. This place is a busy little restaurant for good reason.

I got the vegan breakfast and an espresso. The espresso was wonderful! The vegan breakfast was lovely and had so much variety which I loved! It also tastes fresh. I didn’t feel too heavy afterwards and it kept me going for hours of exploring!

It was really busy but the service was consistent throughout - friendly, professional and genuine. Great spot!
I was served by a lovely young girl, she had a genuine smile and she noticed I had a support on my hand and asked if I needed help, she was a new start but if that's how she keeps going she'll do well.

I’ve been exploring the coffee shops local to my office and The Coffee Cave is right up there as one of the best. The coffee is expertly made and the service is very friendly, it’s hard to leave without having a chat. You can tell a lot of thought and passion goes in to each brew.

We stayed at a hotel around the corner and came here on two occasions for breakfast. Menu served until 2pm weekends and 1pm weekdays so was ideal for our lazy weekend away. First day was probably my best experience, we had some lovely freshly made sandwiches which were served with crisps and small side salad. The next day I ordered the full Scottish, my husband the smashed avocado on toast. Must admit I had total food envy, my potato scone was extremely dry, didn’t appear to have been fried in any oil and my breakfast was a littler on the cooler side. The slice of haggis was the star of the show. My husband loved the smashed avocado, I also had a taste and it was fully of flavour, fresh and really yummy! Staff were really friendly and the girl behind the counter noticed us on our return visit which was lovely as she welcomed us back. Overall nice cafe, would recommend. The coffee art is also too notch.

Hot latte was a little luke warm and the cafe generally freezing because of the door opening so often. That said, brilliant and cheerful staff who warm you up with their mood!

Visited in the middle of winter. We ordered French Toast, which came with syrup and bacon, which was quite good. We also ordered Avodao and poached eggs on Sourdough toast. It looked great, but eating it, the avocado was ice cold and was served with chilled salad. It's a pity as the eggs were almost cold, which ruined the dish, and along with the chilled salad, it wasn't appetizing.

What a place! A true hidden gem. I’ve found my new regular coffee spot for sure. Ally is a great guy, who makes some of the best coffee I’ve ever tried. Looking forward to my next cup already!

Great place - friendly service, cozy atmosphere and just an amazing Scottish breakfast. It’s easy to see how everything is made with love to customers in this place. Highly recommend!)
Lovely little cafe. Coffee was delicious! The cinnamon roll was fresh and light, but they only offer sandwiches after 10:30 am
Super freundlich Mega cool hier.

Great experience at this very cozy cafe! My friend and I stopped here for a late breakfast during our Edinburgh visit.

Croissants and pain au chocolat were very good and quite big.. both cappuccino and flat white were really good too! I ordered a (strawberry/banana) smoothie on the side, it was delicious.

The girl welcomed us very nicely, and the service was great. The place is well located too, it’s on the way to Edinburgh castle. I’ll definitely visit again on my next trips to Edinburgh.

I have some physical parkinson type issues and today was a bad day but the personal service I received today, which was offered not requested, was amazingly thoughtful 😇. Go Starbucks and thank you again.

Barista Molly provided exceptional service. Welcomed me upon arrival and served me in a timely manner even though working alone. I would highly recommend the Turkish Shortie. Large selection of home baked goods and lunch options.
Friendly team and good service. Special mention to Peter for his Christmas jumper and Reka for her service with a smile.
Thanks Ben for being super helpful! Both servers were lovely and supportive and took extra care to ensure I had a lovely dairy free experience. See you soon guys!
Barista picking ice away at an ice refrigerator for a solid 10-15 minutes gave me the biggest headache ever. Dreadful disrespect to customers sitting in and trying to take phone calls, or have any moments of peace. Why on earth they don’t do these jobs before they open is guesswork, but what an absolute racquet this Starbucks is. If you want to get work done, steer well clear from here.

The acoustics of this store make conversations difficult, and the layout could be vastly improved to seat a lot more guests. It's often busy at peak times and some staff are super busy and others look like they're stuck in daydream mode.
Food and tea was just okay and definitely overpriced, got a lot more food just up the road at Southern Cross Cafe for a similar price. Atmosphere is just lovely; you’re really paying for the wonderful environment. Very cosy.
The place had a cosy atmosphere, and the coffee was aromatic. The cakes were delicious too.

The Coffee Cave is one of my favorite finds in Edinburgh! It’s in a great location with even greater coffee and vibes. The black pudding sausage roll was also one of the best things I ate in Edinburgh, I ordered it three days in a row! The best part of the experience is the staff - Ali, one of the owners and a fantastic barista, was so friendly when my aunt and I would come in each morning during our visit and check in with our plans and give thoughtful recommendations for our trip. You can tell he is proud of what he does and proud of his home, and wants to share both with regulars and travelers alike. Truly one of the highlights in my trips to Scotland!

Great first stop on our Scotland trip before heading to the castle.
A little cute and cozy coffee shop I had a delicious Chai latte and my fiancee had a cappuccino with a butter croissant, everything was delicious! Friendly staff! I definitely have to visit them again!
Great coffee, delicious cakes and sandwiches and a really friendly service!

Very welcoming lovely home made scones and soups, can get busy at lunchtime. Not open every day so check times.
Time to drink coffee. Smell calls you when you come into the cafe. Staffs are really lovely and friendly.
Thank you. 🫶

Lovely fair trade cafe and shop. Plenty of space for buggies, couple of big sofas and fenced play area for kids with lots of toys. Soups are always super yummy and you can't beat the prices. Staff are always very nice and accommodating.
