Yesterday evening we booked to celebrate my daughter's birthday, just 4 of us as a family meal. We decided to sit outside as it was gorgeous weather.

3 bar staff working behind the bar but only 1 serving.

When I went up to order food I was asked quite abruptly....do you know what we haven't got....my reply was...clearly not as you haven't told me ... everything we wanted we couldn't have and when it did arrive it took it's time via a different table.

I asked where the cutlery was, I was told in a sullen voice...it's on the bar....

To say I was disappointed is an understatement, you have a beautiful building in beautiful surroundings yet your staff let you down immensely.

If I didn't already have a full time job, I would be applying to work here to give your customer's great service as I have plenty of hospitality knowledge which your staff seriously are lacking.

Met up with friends and had a really lovely meal. The Steak and Ale pie was delicious came with chunky chips and fresh veg broccoli, swede and peas. Highly recommend. ( We ate at the other pub in the village the night before and The Boat Inn was far superior 👏 highly recommend) Thankyou for our lovely meal

Creo este lugar es sólo para lugareños y no para turistas. La atención es mala y despreocupada. La comida es promedio a mala. El lugar es muy bonito eso si, nada que decir con eso.
Si estuviera obligado a ir pediría una cerveza y papas fritas, y nada más.

No es tan difícil sonreír, y eso va para todo el personal que trabaja ahí.

Whilst the food was good then service was almost non existent. We visited earlier and the restaurant was very busy as it was a bank holiday. However on return for our booking it was fairly quiet. Our starter (calamari ) arrived after a fairly long wait. It was then some time before the main arrived which I believe my wife's was not complete (no vegetables) but ate anyway. The food was well cooked. Nearby tables received wrong orders. We decided on dessert but were never spoken to and after 30 minutes decided to leave. On leaving nearby tables had not been cleared. Maybe we should have complained but we put the experience down to it having been a busy day. We hoped to return today but I think we'll be trying the nearby pub for our food. The staff we did have interaction with were pleasant.

We love coming here with the family. We went yesterday 5.5.24 everything was lovely the only downside was the queues at the bar to get a drink were so long, more servers needed at peak times. We had to wait over 1 hr for the food even though we had a table booked. 🙄 Amazing food mind u

I don't usually go into the Saracen's Head, but today's trip was great. The food was really top notch. I had a chicken in a basket and it was moist chicken with crispy batter and a lovely presented side salad. My wife had the steak and cheese baguette. The prices were great value for money. I see another trip in the future.

I've eaten before at the Bull. It's a great pub with great food. Today there was no food until 2pm as the had a big booking and you've got to respect that. Had a nice pint and my daughter played on the bouncy castle.

Loved it had been looking for this place for the last 5yrs We didn't stop for food on this occasion as we had a little one who was getting tired. But will be back as the food looked and smelt delicious. Very friendly staff lovely atmosphere. 🙂🙃👌👍

Was my second time here. First time was around 4-5 years ago. That visit was very good. And now (May 24)back again on a narrowboat and we had to visit them 😀. Service is still very good and friendly. Also the food is still very good.

For the boaters: they offer grocery service, not a big list, but all things you can use daily. Check their website for what they can get you. There is no shop in the neighbourhood

Had a lovely couple of drinks in the great beer garden at the Navigation, I want to say thank you to the staff who didn't mind us playing our card game on the table whilst we drank and even offered their events hall if we wanted to hire it out! You made us feel very welcomed to your establishment and we would happily come again!

Stayed here overnight celebrating my boyfriends birthday. Lovely old quirky hotel. Very comfy bed.

We dined at The Plough today to celebrate our family members birthday. As a party of 10, we were accommodated so well. Each and every one of the staff members were so polite and courteous. They could not do enough to assist with our meal. The food was fantastic (Sunday roast) and the vegetables came out in sharing dishes which was so lovely and gave it a home from home feel. The vegan alternatives were delicious too! They have a little nook with toys, books and colouring pencils for children which was an absolute game changer for our 2 and 5 year old! We will certainly be returning in the near future. I can't recommend this pub/restaurant enough. Do pop in when passing and support a local business in a small village!

Had a Sunday roast and a couple of drinks. What a great meal. I can highly recommend the Turkey and pork. Will be back. The pub is lovely, the staff are polite and friendly, plus plenty of parking. I can highly recommend this place.

The MOST amazing turkey roast, along with some truly delicious red cabbage, parsnips, mange tout, runner beans, roasties, a big Yorkshire pud and sausage. Great service, great venue. We'll be back!!!

Hate to do this but the food was that bad I feel compelled to leave a review. I could list the issues however the worst was with one of the children's meals, he ordered a chicken burger and half way through eating it he said it didn’t look right, it was raw! now very worried he will be extremely ill tomorrow. Service was friendly and clearly trying hard but the kitchen standards were terrible. Pretty much all the meals had issues. I paid in full and we left.

Been before and had a good experience but this was poor. Duo of Beef sounded great but half the duo was inedible, and the sauce was odd (not inedible but odd). It also took ages to come out of the kitchen.

The waiter was very good and dealt with it well. "Supplier issues" well if you don't have the product, don't serve it.

The BEST night celebrating my 30th Birthday in the Malt Room with 80 friends and family thanks to Towcester Mill Brewery. Kathryn’s organising and answering all my silly questions was brilliant and Bekki did an incredible job looking after us on the night and helping out with my fiance’s surprise grand proposal! Would highly recommend!

Absolutely fantastic food and service. Greeted by a very friendly member of staff, food delivered within 10 mins and it was to die for. Roast lamb for me was perfect and my gorgeous girlfriend who likes her beef well done which they easily accommodated for her. The cauliflower cheese was unbelievable.
Definitely will be returning

Had a two night vacation fantastic hospitality met with a warm welcome and splendid room absolutely faultless. The evening meal was lovely and presentation was fabulous had a great night sleep but the best by far was the breakfast. Came down to a lovely warm greeting in the morning from staff and a fantastic fresh cooked breakfast. Thank you for such a a lovely stay your staff were superb.

I have to say the 'short woman with glasses' that was critisised in another review was wonderful today as she managed the bar, taking orders and serving food independently. All with great manners and a smile! The food was good and fair value. Management might want to timetable more staff at lunchtimes, over school holidays, but the lady deserves a raise for managing so well!

Only been here once they have a good selection of beers inside and outside seating. Located next to a local park with nice walks. Will definitely revisit.

Roman Road is a great beer 🍺 This place has a great atmosphere. The Flavour Trailer was a great addition serving superb burgers.

Just popped in with my wife as we were out for a drive. We were greeted by a very nice young man behind the bar, very polite, nice and welcoming, and no fuss. I had two pints of San Miguel, they were lovely pints, with a nice head all the way to the bottom of the glass. Definitely coming back in the summer.

Lovely walk along the canal with the dogs. Decided to stop off for Sunday lunch. Delicious Roast beef served with lots of perfectly cooked veggies and a giant Yorkshire pudding with lashings of gravy. Dogs loved it just as much as we did!

A lovely canal side restaurant/pub. Enjoyed by local boaters and visitors alike. Sausage and mash was delicious. Perfectly large but not wasteful portions. Proper homely belly warming food. And very reasonable on pricing for what you get in my opinion. Thank you Boat Inn! 🛥️

Great service, fabulous food. A bit quiet, but to be expected in the winter on a Monday night. Definitely recommend and would love to go back in the Summer ☀ 😁

Very comfortable, friendly place. Nice folks working there made us feel very welcome, put us by a radiator because we'd been out in the cold. We each had a vegan burger with chunky chips, and a couple liters of pepsi, and we shared pita bread with hummous, and an order of onion rings. It was all very tasty, although the vegan burger patties were a bit dry. Nothing extra ketchup couldn't fix! We also liked that they brought the ketchup and mustard bottles to the table, rather than bringing a little thimble full and acting like it was fine liquour, like a number of other places have done. I mean, who has a pile of chips and a pile of onion rings, and uses a teaspoon of ketchup? Well done, folks! Not the cheapest place we've eaten, but one of the nicest so far.

I am so disappointed! I never have given a bad review but I have to for how me and my friends were treated in this pub. I couldn't even muster as low as 1 star because I've never given so low, but honestly the attitude by what I assume it be the land lady here was utterly disgusting. Me and my mates are Brummies and are are used to friendly atmospheres and lovely staff, but here we were made to feel so out of place. The only saving grace was the pub was beautiful and thankfully for the owners of this pub their predecessors have saved them from an even lower review.

Die Zimmer sind „etwas“ altertümlich eingerichtet und komfortabel kann man es eigentlich nicht nennen. Großes Lob dennoch für die gute Beleuchtung im Bad. Das Frühstück ist durchaus ok wenn der Koch nicht mal gerade wieder gekündigt hat... in diesem Fall gibt es dann Hot Dogs vom Schnellrestaurant nebenan und darauf möchte man lieber verzichten.
