Bar and live music venue in the heart of Seel St in Liverpool. Part of the Invisible Wind Factory group and a great place for a night out.

As well as the live music room there is normally a DJ in the bar keeping the atmosphere high.

Recommended.

Had our wedding here 14 Oct 2023. 90 day guests & 140 guests at night. We thought it had been planned to precision only to have the day a disaster. It was if we turned up & they had forgot we were coming. Delay in allowing guests into the venue meant we had no ushers & flower girls denied access to the wedding room to get changed which we’d been promised use of. We were delayed getting married by 30 mins due to staff not being prepared. They were still tidying up from the night before when we arrived.
The wedding breakfast tables had no linen as they hadn’t paid their supplier & our drinks order (which we’d paid for months prior) was delivered during our ceremony meaning delay in drinks reception with guests turfed outside whilst they took an hour to turn the room around.
The sound system didn’t work for speeches & entrance music. All that we’d been promised was not delivered. Staff were like headless chickens & had lost control & out of their depth in managing a sizeable wedding. If only our wedding planners (we had 5 during our 18 mth booking as staff move on) had been there to manage the wedding, it might have been so different .
We’d paid & ordered champagne for the wedding breakfast but this wasn’t provided until chased.
Staff didn’t know how to dim the lights for the evening reception & extra mood lighting we had hired in (at the venues suggestion) was wasted. It was bright lights all night.
They were no ladies toilets as they were blocked & out of use. A handwritten “do not use” stuck on the door. We found out that they had been aware of this for several days prior but they hadn’t thought to sort it.
We finally received compensation for breach of contract, but only after months of legal threats & only received payment of our agreed damages after threatening them with a statutory demand & company wind up, 3 1/2 months after it being agreed.
We didn’t want to do any negative reviews, and publicise our experience, but the stress & upset caused by their breach of contract & delay in them taking any responsibility meant we lost all respect for the company. A wedding is meant to be a once in a lifetime thing, but they let us down very badly.
The plus side was the food. Their chef was excellent as the food was very good & that we are grateful for.

Great place to meet with friends for a beer and food.

This the best place in Europe to watch live music in 2024. The sound quality and acoustics are perfect, the service from the Incredible staff is impeccable and the venue is spotlessly clean. My friends and I would never have never have dared to dream that such a wonderful venue existed. Thanks for the memories, je suis tres content.

A great venue - top sound, friendly staff, very reasonable prices, and putting on a big show for the local talent in Bill Ryder-Jones. Would heartily recommend.

Had an amazing time at the first ever Motown night for my friends 18th. Thanks to the two doormen Panda and Brownie, it was the first time we had been and they were really helpful even if they did take the mick out of our ids 🤣.

Had a boss night at bongos Motown night only just feeling human again 🤣🤣 two of the doorman panda 🐼 I think he said his name was and brownie we’re keeping the queue entertained they’re a good laugh to have up front and after reading some reviews before writing this one we were a group of 16 and not one of us had any issues getting a drink at the bar pretty quick and polite bar staff one of them even kept my fella up to date with the Liverpool score 🤣🤣 can’t wait for next night out at bongos 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

Long wait at the bar when busy. Good venue though.

Interesting space. Reminded me very much of Budapest’s Ruin Pubs. On my visit it was busy, but not uncomfortably crammed. Good selection of national and local beer and the food was nice too.

Great venue, only downside the two days we went here they closed at 12, careful if there are more than 4 of you in a group as they don't allow crowds in! In all seriousness though it's a super place to chill out after a busy day around the city. Like an earlier reviewer it really does remind us of Budapest and its ruin bars.

Edit: revisited December 2019, they have changed the layout somewhat and I think it works just as well, again really unusual vibe which is great, what was evident this time we visited was that there are now lots of other bars around them now which I hope helps them out, well done to however had the idea a few years back to stick their neck on the line and open here with virtually nothing around them, it’s a real go to place for me every time we visit.
