I finally entered this building after visiting Lister Park so many times. The park is lovely, but the building is equally so. I can't say that I am a fan of art, I prefer architecture, but there are some great pieces of artwork here. In the gallery, you will find the largest collection of David Hackney's lifework beautiful displayed. I must say it was very interesting to wall through. Works displayed by Osman Yousefzada that I completely don't understand, but some people seem to like it. What was more interesting to me was the portrait exhibition by Shy Burhan of 'Women in Uniform'. Her display of women of colour defying social stereotypes in professions normally held by men. Very interesting. Art is now digital people, amazing. The gallery is one to see. They encourage kids to visit and host craft sessions, and it has a cafe.
Looks to be a linchpin of the local community. A city museum which values and reflects its diverse community, its history and origins. Wonderful Hockney Gallery honoring local roots of David Hockney, notable for child-height features which are in no way patronising and reflect the time he spent in the gallery as a child. I particularly liked the "calm room" with its comfy armchairs and ambient soundtrack.
Free admission. A range of art. Good cafe with a wide selection of hot and cold food and drinks. Eat in or take out. Beautiful park with peaceful pools and a busy waterfowl pond as well as well maintained wide paths through many trees and shrubs. Great display of daffodils just now and banks of crocuses earlier in the year.
I've visited the park on many occasions and forgot about the Hall. However, this is a place not to be missed. Some lovely gems within the collections and fantastic history for Bradford. Nice Cafe too
